Q: Does the starter come with litter?

The Starter Set does not come with Litter but we do have a SKU available that includes our Probiotic Premium Clumping Litter. This litter works very well with our sifting system!

Q: Are there lids for this?? I would love this even more if so!!=>

Yes! Kitty Sift was designed to fit inside many popular hoods. Size Large is compatible with VanNess XL, Up&Up XL, SoPhresh L, Iris XL, Eco Flex Litter Loo, At Dawn top loading XL, etc. Size Jumbo is compatible with Catit Jumbo. We don’t make a molded pulp lid at this time. Thank you for asking!

Q: Do the sifting layers absorb any of the urine?

Kitty Sift trays have a waterproof coating embedded into the molded fiber material. There are multiple factors including litter type, cat bathroom behavior, number of cats, how often trays are sifted/maintained, etc. that will determine how many reuses a customer can expect per tray before needing to replace. Over time urine could be absorbed and the tray would need to be disposed.

Q: Cost to use for a year, for one cat?

It truly depends upon each individual cat’s litter box usage and behavior, what type of litter is being used and how often the trays are being maintained/sifted. A superior clumping litter will help the trays last longer. Some customers dispose one tray per week and some reuse trays for several months. Our Jumbo size trays may last longer if you have a larger cat. Hope this helps:)
