Not comprehensive and not aimed at beginners
This book was helpful in some ways but it starts pretty hard and then really focuses only on ii-V-I progressions. It doesn’t really give many exercises to help with any other situations. It also doesn’t really address chords without 9ths and 13ths. Regular major, minor, and 7th are glossed over as too easy or too simple to deal with. I’m a trained percussionist and can read music and play 2 mallets ok…but my 4-mallet playing is pretty poor. After working on this book for a few weeks I’m still pretty confused. This seems to assume some higher baseline skills than I have. It just seems like jumps in logic are made and that players can just absorb chords instantly. I cannot. Maybe that’s my lack of ability… but just know that to get the most out of this book you have to be pretty darn good with reading, theory, 4 mallet grip, and jazz already.

about comping
the book is not base on the CD. you can learn ways to put and use voicing on your vibraphone.whether your interest is on have a good play along, buy one book of aebersold. here you can learn how to play open and close chords. that is the best. anyway. it's a book based on voicings and he only put a bunch. he could put way too much on it. but the ones he put in the book are great

For English speaking people: Chord progressions in Chapter 5Ballad=Here's That Rainy Day, Medium Swing=The Days of Wine and Roses, Fast Swing=All The Things You Are, Waltz=Bluesette, Bossa Nova=Wave, Samba=Blue Bossaコードの知識があれば前半の基本のところはわかっているので、練習用には使えるが目新しいことは書いてない。
