My granddaughter loved this book! She’s in to gymnastics and all things Simone Biles!

Didn't know when I ordered this book it would be a great jump off for a discussion on stress and pressure. A nice add on to the multicultural library at the sites I volunteer at. It was reasonably priced and shipped immediately.

As a female sports enthusiast and former athlete, it is very important to me that the legacy and stories of female athletes be told. It is imperative that our young people have the opportunity to read about extraordinary people like Simone Biles. Her story not only gives a better understanding of who and how she became a great athlete, but also it shows how someone can overcome the odds. I think that is a strong message to send, and I believe Rachelle Burke’s book does that.Burke has put into words Biles’ life, trials and success in a powerful way for young people to understand. As we are taken through Simone’s life, the author does a wonderful job of explaining her life’s circumstances. The author examines and exposes the reader to the road Simone takes to become a gymnast. Who knew that because of her hyperactivity as a child would lead her to becoming one of the greatest female athletes of all time? Simone’s road to becoming an elite gymnast is not easy. She has to make sacrifices in order to fulfill her dreams. We learn about her family and the role they played in her success.The Olympics and women’s gymnastics in the United States is a big part of Simon’s life and Burke does a wonderful job at introducing the young reader to each of these. And, the author clearly explores her rise to greatness. It’s not just about becoming a great athlete though, we learn about her relationships with teammates and coaches. Finally, we learn of the kind of person Simone Biles has become.I honestly and whole heartedly recommend this book for young readers. They will not only enjoy it but will learn that people are able to overcome the odds and fulfill their dreams.

I bought this book for my school library along with other biographies on Simone Biles. As I was previewing this book I noticed that pages were printed crooked and some even had whole paragraphs missing because of that. I’m going to have to return it. I can’t have kids reading books with information missing.
