I measured focal length = 14". I did it hand held, so I could be off an inch, but it won't make much difference.14" FL gives a lens power of 2.8 diopter. That results in roughly 1.7x magnification. Not a lot, but ok for my needs. Plus a lower correction yields a more precise focus.fwiw, lenses are not characterized by magnification, but rather diopters. Reading glasses that say 2.0 on them are 2 diopter. Listings that claim 2x power or such are typically in error. To get approximate magnification, divide diopter rating by 4 then add 1. Feel free to check my math.As for this magnifying glass, it is actually glass. The higher the diopter rating, the thicker the lens will get at the center. That means the higher the rating, the heavier the lens. Also more correction will result in more aberrations.

GOOD MAGNIFIER

Make sure it's the magnification level you need. If it is, it can also be left out in the open as a knick-knack and looks good in any decor. I've actually got compliments on it from company. And I'm ready for any fine print that comes along

A very poor magnifier at best. Do not buy.

I love this magnifying glass. It’s not too heavy to hold, but is on the heavy side. It has a large viewing range, which is very helpful.
