A funny and tender picture book about waiting for a new brother or sister to arrive. There's a house inside my mummy,Where my little brother grows,Or maybe it's my little sisterNo one really knows.Waiting for a new brother or sister to arrive can be a confusing and worrying time for young children. Sharing this simple rhyming story together is the perfect way to reassure your little one and involve them in all the excitement. Told with humour and warmth by Giles Andreae, the author of much-loved family favourite Giraffes Can't Dance.'A great book for sharing with your first born while your second is still in the 'tummy house'' - The TimesA note from the author:'When my wife became pregnant for the second time, I was talking to Flinn, our 2-year old son, about what was going to take place and how exciting it would be for him to have a brother or sister. I started to think about it as though I were a young child myself ... 'There's a house inside my mummy' was a phrase that just popped into my head, and from then on the book was a joy to write.' Lovely book, here is some tips if you're expecting a girl.
I love the book the only issue is that its gendered (the baby in the belly is a boy). If you're expecting a girl you can adjust it by make little stickers. You'll need: 10x her 1x She 2x she 1x she's 1x sister! 1x untill she makes another mister/ we've waited long to kiss her

A fabulous, gentle explanation of pregnancy for toddlers.
We bought this book when I was expecting my second child to help my daughter (who was coming up to 2) understand what was happening to mummy. My daughter really identified with the child in the book, and the simple rhymes were easy for her to remember at an age where repetition was very important to her. The illustrations are brilliant too, she loved playing "spot the..." with all the background details. I was very ill during my pregnancy, so the fact that this included the mummy getting sick really helped my little girl. I loved that it was so positive. She loved the book and now, aged five, still knows it by heart and loves reading it to her little brother. Its not technical, if they're old enough to wonder how the baby got there or how it gets out then this isn't the right book. But I'd recommend it to any toddler expecting a sibling.

Uses simple language to explain a complicated concept to children!
I have always loved this book! The book explains the changes a mum might go through in pregnancy in a simple way. Doesn't give any gory details, but gives enough information for the child to understand more. A great little book to read to a future big sister or brother from when they first learn their mummy is going to have another baby, right till the end of the pregnancy. The more they read it, the more they will "get it".

Five Stars
It's a fun and clever book, but it is for an older child...probably age 3.5 and above.
