Limited vinyl LP pressing including digital download. On the heels of Myrkur's universally praised debut EP comes M, the Danish black metal phenomenon's highly anticipated first full-length. Recorded in various locations of Oslo, Norway (including renowned artist Emanuel Vigeland's mausoleum) with co-producer Garm (the mastermind behind black metal legends Ulver) M finds Myrkur achieving the grandiose heights that everyone hoped she would climb to. The melodies are lush and the brutality devastating-M is a highly developed metal masterpiece that blends second-wave black metal, Nordic folk music, classical instrumentation and haunting choirs. Rounded out on record by members of Mayhem, Dodheimsgard and Nidingr plus a guest appearance from Christopher Amott of Arch Enemy, MYRKUR has quickly established herself as one of the best and most intriguing acts in metal today!

Good black metal from a surprising source.
This debut album comes on the heels of Myrkur's self-titled 2014 EP. The EP was a tour-de-force by a then-anonymous one-woman act; the album loses some of the EP's power as the musician has become known (Danish pop star Amalie Bruun) and other musicians have joined the act, but the result is 90's style ambient black metal. My favorite track, featured both on this album and the EP, is Dybt I Skoven (Danish: "Deep in the Woods"); for me this track in particular is quite an earworm.

Black Metal Greatness
This is an amazing album. Most Black Metal pales by comparison. The blend of choral voices, scandinavian folk music and searing metal is beautifully handled. I never heard a BM album before that could be called beautiful. This is also very hi-fi, and perfectly mixed and mastered. All of the carping from the purists is probably due to a newcomer wiping the floor with their third rate efforts. Ignore the immature male whiners calling this crap, it is the exact opposite.

Hauntingly beautiful. Saw them open for Behemoth
Beauty and Beast vocals from the same person. Hauntingly beautiful. Saw them open for Behemoth, I thought it an odd but workable combo. It was workable! Really set the mood and tone. Keeping my eyes and ears open for this artist

Great album
Great album, been listening to it a lot since it arrived and I can't say I have anything negative to say about Myrkur. Hoping to hear some more great albums from her.

Blackened beauty.
This is one of those rare cases where the words Black Metal and Beautiful can go together. A one woman project M is an album combining icy black metal sounds with delicate folk like vocals and guitars. It mostly all works really well, though there are times when the black metal assault kicks in that I feel they could almost be toned down a bit as it can be a touch jarring - however only a minor complaint. If you're unsure the album preview actually manages to describe it really well.
