Review for Liars by Todd Rundgren
Same exact album but this is the Japanese version with the Japanese cover. They rejected the American cover artwork... This is a very good album, as some of Todd's newer albums might not appeal to his old school rock and roll fans.. buy the American version for 10 bucks and listen to it..

Great Rundgren release! Breaks between songs on the Japanese release!
Great (under-rated) Rundgren release! Gets betting and better with each listen. And there are breaks between the songs on the Japanese release... which is useful for those of us wishing to play songs on "random." Unfortunately, some songs might be misunderstood by the non-cognizant - like the point of Mammon (a mammon is a fake god). And with the techo-sounding opener, some may mistake this as a techno album. It is not. This album is really a great work!

Todd's Greatness Continues
Excellent CD. Todd starts expending his sound into an electronic direction and IT WORKS! Highlights are "Truth", "Sweet" Future, and "God Said".

Time for Todd
Where do I start to tell you about how good this cd is and why you should purchase it?Well ,no its not the guitar cd that I would love to have from him. This is a superb cd, showcasing Todds vocals.Do we dare call it a concept album? The central theme is about liars and lies we have all told or been told(example:the Easter bunny). This has a highly accessible sound that could and should be played on radio.Has Todd been blacklisted forever or will someone wake up and give this new cd a chance?Hey how about a behind the music on vh-1?Ending with him in hawaii releasing his new masterpiece.Warning: he does get a little raunchy with the lyrics on "Flaw" ,but the sound and groove of it are so cool you want to overlook them. There are definately some really great songs on here that you must check out.The song "Liar" is one of my favorites ,it has a ravi shankar meets nine inch nails sound. This cd is filled with questions from an artist who continues to push forward into the new milinium and update his sound.Maybe..just maybe ,it's Time for Todd!

Todd's still breaking new ground
It's taken me a few listens to digest Liars, but I love it. For all of those who appreciate Todd's song crafting abilities and lush production qualities, you'll love Liars. If you're looking for Todd to rock-out with alot of guitar laiden jams, this one isn't for you. If I'd have to compare this to any of his past works, I'd say it's a cross between the electronica of NWO and the concept of Healer. While I haven't yet seen the liner notes, there are pervasive themes throughout Liars. Truth, lies, life, death, future, past, spirituality, etc... It's heavy stuff. "Stood Up" remains my favorite song. It has a Hermit-like sound to it and is the closest thing to his late 70's sound I've heard in years. There are some nice, subtle songs like "Sweet", "Past", "Flaw" (assuming you overlook the mother f'er references), and "God Said." (get over yourself Todd!). There's not a bad song in the bunch and over 74 minutes of music to enjoy. It's hard to say that this is one of Todd's best because he breaks new ground on every disc. I think it's safe to say that Liars is one of his best works in the last 20+ years though. Get it!!!

A Great CD...that's not a lie
Todd returns to old form...at least partially. This CD blends the 90's style Todd rhythm with 80's style Todd vocals. I have only listened to the whole CD once but it is a vast improvement over One Long Year. My favorite tracks are " Sweet " and " Flaw". Both really showcase Todd's unique vocal style. the production is flawless as usual but the disc lacks a lot of guitar work, being a guitarist that I tend to enjoy a healthy dose of guitar. Todd has given us a CD worth waiting 3 years for and a return to formulas that have made many of us diehard fans.

ooops he did it again..
Oooops he did it again. Another classic album under his belt. A concept album like no other. Liars is full of phili soul..ballads, scorching lyrics, and beautiful melodys.. and quick witted humor.. What you have with liars is a cross between Something/Anything and Hermit of Mink Hollow. but very thought provoking..With a bit of magic.. musical magic... I have had "Liars" for a week already and i havnt taken it out of my cd player. An instant modern day classic.. TODD IS STILL GODD..
