QFX R-35 Portable 3" AM, FM, SW1 Band Radio with 2" Speaker and Telescopic Antenna, Black

Turned out to be a rather nice radio. Looks like a brick though. And you really have to look closely at the controls because they seem to be opposite of most of my other radios; for example, attempting to turn down the volume I end up deafening myself..Seems very much like my last Sony AM/FM, pulls in weak signals well.If it has a sleep function I don't know, really, I don't have the box and info anymore.Haven't had much luck with shortwave, doesn't seem to be as much around as from when I was a child listening to our AM/FM/SHORTWAVE multiband that was huge and required six(?) d or was it c batteries, when we went camping. Who all remembers those? (the big radios)

I took delivery of this item at UPS on 30/03/2021. Generally, I like the radio, it is sensitive, has better MW, decent Shortwave but you need to have the patience to tune the dial precisely, stations sometimes are too close to each other leading to slippages in tuning to target stations. Overall a good product for its price and performs decently, better than others in its category, wished it had more lower band SW stations. Battery life for this radio is very impressive.

I purchased this QFX R-35 when the first one broke after about 3.5 years (that one seemed to have developed a problem with the on-off/volume dial connecting inside even though the dial worked). That first one functioned well for listening to news (sound was good, but for music it was just alright, better to stream music via cell phone). I purchased this second one through Amazon on September 6, 2024 and picked it up on the September 14th. Today, October 17th of 2024, the on-off/volume dial seems to have disconnected from its gear so it will not shut off, keeps spinning around. It is past the Amazon Return Date of October 11th and i just tried to e-mail the vendor but my email returned as Undeliverable. Just tried to break into the back of the radio and it looks like the screw that held the dial onto the gear is very loose but i am unable to break off the back panel to try to screw it back in place. Will try again later. Will not buy another such radio. Please don't send questions as i usually cannot respond.

I got this radio for $5 so I didn't expect much. When I opened the box, the first impression was it's really cheap. It just has a cheap feel to it. I noticed some minor scratches on the back even though it was supposed to be new and in a bubble wrap "envelope'" so I believe I was sent a returned item. When I turned it on though, I was impressed by the reception. I picked up most FM stations within 70 miles and picked up AM stations at night more than 400 miles away clearly. Those were clear enough to actually listen to. I didn't attempt to do any DXing on AM, but I believe it will pick up 50 kw stations out to about 700 miles. The speaker is tinny and flat like a lot of small radios, though it doesn't have to be that way. The Prunus J-777 is smaller, but has a much better speaker.So overall. not too bad for a $5 radio. The reception is great, but the radio and speaker quality is lacking.

I bought this radio for my nightbed stand,i read all reviews and did some research online and AM glad i bought it.yes it seems almost identical to a Sony small radio i have same build and features just the SW band added.i think could be the same radio with same components but the qfx brand stamped on it..yes the quality is the same than Sony super high Quality i tester both and is almost identical..iam glad for the purchase i think this radio Will hold up for many years in emergencies
