Best of Marcus Miller

Marcus is the man. This book has highlighted some of the funky, funky lines of the greatest bass player on the planet. The uncountable hours i have spent transcribing his bass lines and solos have now been quickly updated with accurate and well presented print versions. The book showcases a great cross section of his career, notably his work with Miles and Sanborn and moves through all of his solo recordings. I feel there were notable anthems left out, but the selected pieces are all good. Hey there's no stopping anyone with a great set of ears and technique doing the hard yards and transcribing your fave tunes yourself. After all lots of the techniques and intricacies of Marcus' technique are so carefully presented to you here to get you started.In short a fantastic book for any bass player wanting to move to the next level and really improve their chops, technique and style.

Been a Miller fan for years, so this is a treat! As a fan and bass player, I'm overjoyed to get Marcus Miller's sheet music. The sheet music and tabs are accurate (I follow it along w/ my cds). This is a great pick up for any bass player.

Looking forward to learning the songs as they were written, then improvising from there.

The transcriptions have a lot of wrong notes, but they definitely get you started with these songs. If you read the book and play with the records, you can hear the parts that aren't right and figure them out. I compared some of these to transcriptions from Anthony Vitti just to make sure I wasn't hearing them wrong. Also, a book this fat would be so much easier to handle if it were spiral bound. Anyway, the main thing is to use this book as a starting point for these bass lines and solos that are super beautiful and difficult.

Solid transcriptions with notes,tab and chord symbols. Seems to be accurate but can be a little confusing due to several bass lines going at the same time. Recomended.

Extra tracks but difficult

A great book, this has chord symbols, as in say Em, plus Bass Tabs and Music scores. Great tracks too.This book is for any serious bass player.

First thing to note is that it's not tabbed by Marcus Miller himself even found some transcription errors.Worth mentioning that if you're only really interested in one or 2 songs you can buy the transcriptions on the editor's website.The thing is tabbed following exactly the same structure as the studio version. So if one track you have 50 bars of the same groove the book has 5 pages with exact same thing and there are zero annotation like "groove A", "solo" or anything.Also, the book is massive (250 pages), maybe a bit too much. I doubt anyone will be interested in half the songs in there. Lots of fillers basically. (this wasn't taken into account in my rating)I would not recommend that book.

Wie gesagt mir fehlt schlicht und einfach zu den Tabs die passenden eingespielten Tracks. Ansonsten ist es sehr schwer mit dem Rhytmus und den Noten klarzukommen. Für Anfänger finde ich es ungeeignet, aber was erwartet man schon, wenn man Songs von Marcus Miller nachspielen will. Wie mein Vorredner schon sagte, man merkt es waren verschiedene Leute am Werk und manche Lieder sind für mich nicht passend umgesetzt worden.
