WEAVERSide Mount Base - #2

The holes lined up perfectly with the drilled and tapped holes on the receiver of the Savage Model 87 .22LR. The supplied screws however were sized 8-40 and the mount holes in the Savage receiver are tapped 10-32. I was required to fabricate my own screws from 1/2" 10-32 socket head screws. The diameter of the heads on the socket head screws had to be turned down, and the height of the head of the socket head screw had to be shortened. Shortening the head of the socket head screw left no purchase remaining for an allen wrench which required me to cut a flat blade screwdriver slot with a hacksaw. The holes in the #2 base also had to be widened just enough to accommodate the 10-32 thread.This seems like a lot of work however both screws took maybe an hour to fabricate and worked fabulously. I locked the socket head screw threads in a variable speed drill chuck and spun them against my Dremel Tool loaded with a drum grinder stone. The flat top of the grinder stone was also utilized to shorten the head of the socket screw. The screws were shortened to the proper length with a cut-off wheel in the Dremel Tool.

I ordered this side mount for the Jc Higgins/sears & roebuck model 103.13. Basically it's a marlin model 81. Holes were already predrilled and the fit was perfect. I saw a review on here saying it would not fit but purchased anyway because this base would fit according to weavers site. Glad I did. Was a nice project gun that turned out great.

This is the item I received. I don’t know if I was sent the wrong part or what but there’s no way that I’m aware of, of mounting any form of optic to this rail. Most importantly I received just a straight piece of metal with some holes, the picture shows this mount in a fashion that appears to mount to the side and extend over the top. This DOES NOT extend over the top of the gun. I ordered the #2 mount and I would like some form of feedback as to what is going on here. The rifle pictures is a Stevens model 87B and the holes do line up, but the product is not at all what I had believed it was.

Bought this to fit my 514 Remington, along with “Weaver 49340 Detachable Side Mount Rings”. This mount and ring setup, mounted far enough forward to give clearance for the bolt handle and to load bullets and eject empty casings.Everything FIT PERFECTLY!

I have an old Winchester Model 74 .22 that was passed down to me. I don’t think it came from the factory with a scope, so I believe it was drilled and tapped at some point. The scope and mount that were on it were old, the scope was no good, and it was all one piece (basically). After some research, this seemed to be what would fit for a base. It’s perfect! I coupled it with a Weaver side mount with 1” rings, and now my old rifle has a nice new scope, ready for plinking!

THE WEAVER SIDE MOUNT BASE CAME ON TIME AND ALTHOUGH NOT PICTURED THE 4 SCREWS CAME WITH IT. THE SCOPE IS NOW ON THE SAVAGE NUMBER 5 22 RIFLE. MY SAVAGE MODEL 5 HAD TWO 10-32 HOLES DRILLED AND TAPPED ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE RECEIVER INSTEAD OF 8-40 WHICH THE BASE CAME WITH FOUR SCREWS IN 8-40. MY GUN SMITH FRIEND DID NOT HAVE TO DO ANY DRILLING AS THE TWO HOLES MATCHED UP. HE MACHINED TWO 10-32 SHORT SCREWS THAT I HAD AND SHOULDERED THEM AS THEY WERE COUNTER SINK STYLE SO THEY WENT INTO THE BASE PLATE FLUSH.HE REMOVED JUST ENOUGH THREAD ON EACH SO HE DIDN'T HAVE TO DRILL THE HOLES IN THE BASE OUT. HOPEFULLY SIGHTING IN WILL BE SUCCESSFUL.

fits well good quality and about the only way to scope a Krag rifle. Don't laugh till you have hunted with one that has been worked on they really do a great job,

I was in the same boat as other purchasers. My gun is pre WW2. The mounting screw holes were 10/32 and the provided screws were not the same pitch. I was able, with minor work, adapting the correct pitch screws from the hardware store. The mount provided the ability to adapt a scope at the right height and breath life into a great old gun.

Fit my Cooey 600 perfectly and seems to be fine quality, screws were the right length and all the holes lined up. Price is excellent and I was surprised to find a mount for that rifle on Amazon.
