Several members of my family,besides myself,grew up in this town.Maybe it was George Washington or William Howard Taft stopping in to meet friends and/or relatives;but it was John Pierpont Morgan that clinched it for me.He was probably financing some of the textile factoring that was going on at the time.This is not the wilderness.They were in touch with the so-called "outside world."If the people here don't do it for you,then it would be it's natural beauty.The Taft's were cutting ice out of the Shuttle Shop Pond until the water became contaminated.Was that from the cream at Abell's ice cream?I don't remember all the kids in school in the pictures.I remember their kids too.

Nice book. It’s a shame it wasn’t printed on better quality paper for the price.

I love these books but wish they had an index of names and places. But a great resource if you doing research.

Good book if you like to see some history of your particular area
