Spice Islands Summer Savory, .7-Ounce (Pack of 3)

Summer savory. Used in making some French Meat Pies, Tourtieres. Some use other spices but my grandmother used this spice also in making her rice soup. I am not able to routinely find this in stores thus I am delighted I have a go to place to buy it. I keep it in my kitchen.

Summer savory combines punchy spices in good combination that perks up a dish/dressing/salad without overwhelming it. I love it in homemade vinegar/oil dressing for 3/4/5 bean salad, on veggies or other salads, on oven-baked potato wedges, even on some fish or meats. No one sells it anywhere near where I live--I checked. So Amazon to the rescue.

Important for distinctive flavor of Grandma’s Bean Soup, her potato salad, her fresh sautéed green beans, etc.

This is a go to spice in a jar, just like fresh only dried. Flavor great, and a nice green color.

Unlike the ground savory, which comes from a perennial plant, summer savory is from an annual plant and is milder and not bitter. I wouldn't dream of making chicken stew without summer savory. I also add it to fish and egg dishes as well as pea soup. When I lived in northern Maine I could find it in all the grocery stores, but here in Connecticut I have not been able to find it anywhere, even at stores that carry the Spice Islands brand. Apparently, the people who order the spices are not familiar with it and don't realize how summer savory can "spice up" their meals. Thanks to Amazon, my daughters and I don't have to worry about running out of this wonderful product.

This herb, grown in Canada, is such a versatile addition to lot's of meals. Similar to Thyme, but so much better. Goes great with turkey, chicken, pork and beef. Beef stew is so much better with this. I just wish the stores would sell it, in my area. I'm glad I can buy it here on Amazon, as I like Spice Islands better than the fresh my Canadian relatives send.

I like to add savory to all my cooking. I do al free cooking so haveto add spices to keep food fro being bland.

Hard for me to eat eggs without Summer Savory nowadays. Was very happy to get the 3 pack! It tastes good as far as I can tell. Me and my egg dishes are happy!
