Natural Apiary Beekeeping Foundation 100% Pure Beeswax Wired Sheets, Medium-Ten (10), Langstroth Beehives

I am new to beekeeping. I was looking for something that I could use as starter strips in my frames. After a lot of research, and because I prefer to stay as close to nature as possible, I decided to go with wax instead of plastic or other materials. I read reviews for many other products and found that even though they were advertised to be wax, many people said they had a petroleum smell. This is definitely not something that I want to expose my bees to. I decided on this product because of all the favorable comments. After opening mine and smelling, even tasting it, I am very pleased with the quality. I have already installed the strips into the frames. It was a perfect fit for the 1/8" slot that I cut using my table saw.

I'm a new beekeeper and this was my first time to use this product. I'm wanting to do things as naturally as possible, so I was eager to use real beeswax foundations in my wooden frames, rather than the plastic that they came with. I'm sure the plastic has been deemed 'safe', but I just feel better about my choice. Yesterday afternoon, I assembled/primed/painted my new "super" box and as it dried, I assembled the ten frames and inserted these wax foundations. This morning, I took the new super out and stacked it on my original bee box... and (so far) all is well! I'm excited to see if there's going to be any difference in how quickly/much the bees make comb on these foundations vs. the plastic that I got with my first box. Very pleased with the quality. I was hesitant to purchase from an unfamiliar source but happy I did, These were thicker than any I've ordered elsewhere. Disappointed they are currently unavailable as I had planned to order more.5/13/16 Just received 2 more boxes of the foundation to get me through while still awaiting delivery of previously ordered foundation from a big name bee supply company. I will never wast time with that other company again. This foundation is in perfect condition just as my first shipment and it was delivered on time. This is so thick and nice. I can't say enough about that. It is very forgiving to work with unlike the much thinner big name foundation. I only wish Natural Apiary offered shallows too.

Really wanted to like these, but they were a little too thin and warped from the heat before the bees could build them out. Some of the frames were fine. I think it would have been fine if I added them as they were needed. I ended up removing most of them and letting the bees build on empty frames. They do have a nice strong wax smell.

I had no issues working with this product. I found that if you press down the long edges of the wax with you thumb 3/8 of an inch it fits neatly into the foundation frame slots. Get the bottom edge in first then gentily press in the top edge positioned on top of the top fram until it meets the top slot. Go slow. The clipping the corners 1/8 of an inch may also help it from binding up. Gently work your fibger nail along each edge of the slot and pressing on the bowed middle section until everything is seated and straight. Again, go slowly.

These are quality, good smelling beeswax foundations. The only downside is that the wire does not extend beyond the edge of the wax, so you can't tuck the wire into the frame to secure it. I ended up having to string more wire and then melting it into the frame with a small 12v battery. Perhaps they would be sturdy without this, but I worried and a frame full of honey might get weak on a warm summer day.

I don't think I really understood what "PURE WAX FOUNDATION" really meant about this product. It means these foundations are VERY flimsy, malleable, tear easily, and bend out of the frames.It's about 90 degrees outside. Getting these foundations in the hive is nearly impossible before they "melt." I had to stick them in the freezer to get any solidity and hopefully when they're in the hive they won't just fall apart. 3 stars not for the Pure Wax Foundation though... that was my fault. Three stars because they're about 3mm too small to fit securely into the hive frames without slipping out.The comb is spaced perfectly and is the right, natural size. Just remember this is not going to be easy to get into the hive.

Right on time delivery. Nothing like natural bee wax. Smels so good. Dimentions are super correct and the installation on the frames was easy.
