Amazing show. Excellent purchase.
I cannot rate this show highly enough. For anyone who is a fan of big adventures or even the adventure episodes of Top Gear/The Grand Tour, this is truly an epic to enjoy. Also, you're going on another motorcycle trip with Obi-wan, what more could you want?

Great series, greats seller
Show was just as good as LWR, but I found Africa even more of an interesting destination.Special note also goes to the seller who helped me with a small hiccup and went the extra mile!

Constantly entertaining, format doesn't age well
I loved 'Long Way Round' and bought this set based on that experience. While I loved the series, and watched it in two sessions, the traveling-circus style of documentary has not aged well in the time of solo-traveler Youtubers (e.g., Tim Collins of FTA Adventures). After spending time watching solo travelers, Ewan and Charlie's entourage seems like an invading army. And while Ewan's family business is his business, the bit changing everything to cater to his beginner wife detracted from my viewing experience. Still, these are small quibbles and I would recommend buying if you can find it at a great discount, as I did.

Better than the first
Long Way DownLong Way Down was much better than Long Way Round, mainly because of the crew's lessons learned from Long Way Round, and Charley's excursion in the Dakar rally. They equipped themselves more effectively with customized SUV chase vehicles, and a revised loadout for their BMW GS1200 Adventure bikes. It also helped they didn't have to pack so much cold weather gear from what I could tell. Their trip through Europe and Northern Africa was a bit rushed based on their schedule, I would have liked to see them explore more of Egypt. There are 10 episodes, which was an improvement over Long Way Round. Eva, Ewan's wife, is shown learning to ride a bike, and tagged along for a portion of the journey towards the end. Although it must have been an exciting adventure for her, I felt she was just a third wheel in the whole scheme of things.I hope to see their journey in South and North America, if that ever comes to fruition!Overall: 5/5 stars

Very informative for someone never having been to Africa!
I love the terrain and these guys are fun to watch. Gotta love Charley and his wheelies! I was already a fan of the Long Way Round. I like this one too, but I don't feel it's as easy to follow. They complain in the film about feeling rushed through their destinations, and you feel that as the viewer too. It gets a bit choppy and you're not always sure what's going on, even with the subtitles on! I've watched it a few times and I feel like that's what is needed if you're going to really get into this film. But I have to say, it still is an amazing adventure they take you on, and I will watch it again and again, just like I did the first one!

If you liked The Long Way Round you should like this.
The sequel to “the long way round” this series is for people dreaming of traveling the world and getting away from it all. Soooo much better that any weblog on u tube, the presence of professional actors and cameramen makes this much easier to watch, Ewan and Charley uncover the age old secret of getting away from it all; start with a crew of five support staff, two secretarial staff and $ one million in free gear. If you are a bike rider the series is fun and has probably sold more adventure bikes than any 10 advertising campaigns. A great way,to sit down and dream.

Epic journey
This is an epic journey! We've watched it twice in the span of a few months, and we already miss Charley and Ewan and the guys! The production quality is amazing, and the camera work is so good that you truly feel you are there! Well done! Makes you want to hop on the bikes and just go!I would have given this five stars except I cannot recommend it to be viewed by young children or people who are sensitive to profanity. These guys are real. And so is their language.

Half Way Down?
Or should that be 'Don't Look Down' as some of the reviews on here have been a little savage. The project actually started in exactly the same vein as LWR and looked set to have all the neccessary ingredients for 6 hours of engrossing entertainment. But after Tunisia, what happened? There is an interminable mid-section which consists of Ewan moaning, giving bedraggled diary entries to camera and a voice over that is bordering on a whine. They edit out the big barny they go on to have-why not all this negative stuff.Other reviewers overlook the Unicef element and parts of the next section were very moving, detailing the terrible events in Rwanda in 94. But this was followed by the bizarre addition of Ewan's wife and 5 minute footage of her falling off her bike (lovely lady but bonkers all this). In fact it all nearly recovered in Botswana with some beautiful camera work as the series was cued up nicely for a good climax when -whoosh- the end. The handling of the finale is abysmal. There is a retrospective voice over, a quick bike ride through South Africa, sentimental musak and cheesy 'we did it' monologue then it just ends. If a special edition is ever released they really need to address the climax because the series is really out of balance. Almost two episodes on prep and barely 15 minutes in South Africa.LWR was a great series worthy of an award and Charlie and Ewan, contrary to other reviews aren't in the same arrogance league as say Clarkson and May, but the structure of this one was so rushed. Long Way Down? More like Half Way Down...after that something goes badly wrong-5/10

Well worth a watch Adventure/travel and bikes
Enjoyed watching this again as they are adventurous enough to do something I wouldn’t. And it’s educational to see other parts of the world. Lots of bikers criticising these two for having a film/support team but they still have their own adventure. And remember they are known (famous) individuals so that brings its own risks.

Ewan and Charlie off again
More of the same as The Long Way (a)Round. Tired motorcyclists against ridiculous time and distance expectations. Good to see the BMW GS in use. I bet KTM are kicking themselves on the gains in sales that BMW made. Great camaraderie and heart-warming in places though

Long way from round
I saw 'Long Way Round' and thought that 'Long Way Down' would be worth a watch, too, as I'd enjoyed LWR so much.It was, without doubt, entertaining yet seemed hurried by comparison. I don't think they spent enough time on places they passed through though I do take the point that the whole thing was about their motorcycle experience. What they did show was very good indeed but I do feel that they could have given us a little more depth but they were probably saving time to accomodate MacGregors wife. I didn't enjoy the friction it caused between the boys nor did I like the time constraints that were very evident in the first few parts. This again caused very visible friction between them and did nothing to enhance the production. I didn't like the very obvious amount of money that had been thrown at this production which was very evident in the standard of accomodation they enjoyed throughout much of the trip. It did nothing to enhance what was supposed to be a fairly 'iffy' yet epic journey. I took exception to the appearance of "the wife" aboard a motorcycle she couldn't stay on and how Charlie was abandoned for the days that she was present. I thought it was all about the two boys on an epic journey and was dismayed that "the wife" was allowed to muscle in on the easiest part of the route yet still managed to keep falling off. If I'd wanted to see a film about relationships then I'd have bought one. It smacked too much of "Prima Donna'ish behaviour and left me wondering if threats like "If she doesn't come for this part of the trip then its all off" were made to the film company and they were given no option but to indulge him.I'm glad I bought it, though, as some of the profits, apparently, go to charity but the series really is nowhere near as good as LWR and if a star rating were required then LWR would get 10 with LWD getting 5.

get long way around before this
agree with the sentiments of previous reviews not as enjoyable as there previous onethink really the core of the problem was the scheduling just really a constant race against time to get to the next place and not spending as much time looking at placesthink eve joining it to also kind of Changed the atmosphere probably didnt make charley feel that good that ewan would have his wife join them and he would have to wait to see hishopefully they will learn from the mistakes in the future with Long Way To Go
