Easy configurable install
The solenoid failed on my whole house humidifier. Voltage was present and water was flowing to the switch but no water out. Found this at a good price with several included fittings, saving a couple of trips to the hardware store. Mounting flange is reversible for different installs. Took less than 30 minutes.

Replaces OEM, but has to be adapted to work correctly
Replaces OEM, but you need to restrict water flow to the solenoid. Otherwise too much water is wasted in dampening the wick. The OEM solenoid has a restrictor on the upstream fitting. This fitting is not included with this kit. Buying an OEM solenoid from Honeywell should be out of the question due to its outrageous overpricing. However, one might remove the restrictor from the faulty OEM solenoid and re-use it on the replacement. This should solve the over-flow issue. One issue in this re-use solution is that there is a very tiny filter element in the OEM fitting that might be clogged and is very delicate.

Worked for approx 8 hours.
Chinese junk, pure and simple. I did the 9v battery test before the install and it was working fine. Next morning, I checked on it, as the house was running dry again. Checked the humidstat output was fine, and then tried the 9v again, and the solenoid was dead. Fwiw the entire magnet assembly is sealed so you cannot even clean these things out. Thought it would last a year for the $20, but that was a little ambitious. I would highly recommend just getting the real replacement kit for about $40. Total waste of time.

(Updated) Froze open after a month
Not working after a month of use. Appears to have froze in the open position.(Update) I have modified my review to 3 stars. After letting it sit for a month and some “gentle taps” it has began working again. Don’t know how long it will last. The unit also makes a very loud audible noise when being triggered on and off.
