Big and Beautiful โ A Work of Art!
I love this globe! I wanted a geographic reference tool that was larger than the 12-inch Replogle globe I had as a child -- and that also had the โgyromaticโ mount so I could see places in the Southern Hemisphere without twisting my neck (e.g., seeing Antarctica all at once!). The 16-inch โEurekaโ model does the job VERY nicely! Replogle also has a 16-inch โNicolletโ model with National Geographic cartography, but it costs over $100 more and has bright blue oceans that reminded me too much of my childhood globe. The โEurekaโ is available with pale blue or โantiqueโ color oceans, and I chose the latter for its aesthetic appeal. A few things to keep in mind if you choose this globe. It shows a lot more places than the NatGeo model, but the many names give it a very โbusyโ appearance in places, as opposed to the โcleanerโ look of the NatGeo. In addition, the designer apparently had an aversion to too much empty space in the oceans, so there are ample โflourishesโ to fill things in: three compass roses; an ornate โlegendโ; fancy labels for the globe series, the company, and the cartographer; and drawings of over a dozen antique sailing ships along with the names and dates of famous explorations. The globe also contains helpful notes, like an arrow pointing in the direction of the earthโs rotation, a brief explanation of the International Date Line, and notations on the significance of the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. I was surprised to also find a QR code that links your smartphone to the PDF booklet on how to use the globe. Is there anything to dislike about this globe? As some reviewers have mentioned, there are several places where sections of my globe are misaligned. Theyโre very slight, but you need to be prepared for them if youโre expecting perfection. There are also a few tiny scuff marks where the map sections were joined as well as on a couple of the raised โmountains.โ The time dial at the North Pole is a nice touch, but the numbers are transparent, making them difficult to read. There were frequent squeaks at the North Pole axis when turning the globe, but I remedied that with an *extremely tiny* amount of lubricant. And finally, remember that the surface of the globe is basically glossy paper, so donโt touch it (or let others touch it) with dirty, greasy, or wet hands -- and keep it out of direct sunlight. Replogle makes floor models of the 16-inch antique style globe, but the single-pedestal design looked pretty rickety, so I bought a table (Winsome Wood Sasha accent table) to display it. I keep a magnifying glass in the drawer so I can read the small print of the 4,000-plus place names. One last thing to mention โ if your globe becomes outdated, Replogle has a program that lets you buy an updated version for half price. In sum, I give this globe a solid five-star rating. I consider the minor imperfections negligible compared to the globeโs value as a reference tool and the beauty it adds to my home office.

Beautiful globe. Large enough to enjoy. Rotates in every direction.
Beautiful larger globe. Iโve had a globe for decades. About the size of a basketball. Not much help. This globe rotates on XYZ Axis. Meaning you can access any part of the globe. Having a great deal of fun as an armchair explorer. Iโve been a lot of places in the world. But not everywhere. With my globe I can pretend like Iโm there. Nice product. Worth the extra money.

More beautiful than expected.
I wanted larger than 12โ, which was hard to find without going well over $500. I really debated going with the Black, because blue is so beautiful. But I made the right choice. The globe is stunning and large and easy to read. Itโs so great.

Excellent Beautiful Globe
Solid good quality. It's more expensive than other globes but, IMHO, it's worth it. It arrived today beautifully packaged and protected in a big box. I pulled it out and put it on my desk where it looks great. I got the blue background because I thought it would be easy to read and it is, although the other background could be good also.

A nice, easy to read, high-quality globe
Lovely, large globe that is easy to read and is made in the USA. My kids use it all the time for history and geography. My only complaint is that some of the raised topographic parts that indicate mountain ranges are starting to show some wear, so I'm not sure how long the globe will last. Even so, I will buy any future globes from this company as I am very happy with the purchase.

Beautiful and easy to read globe.
I spent a long time researching which companies made globes these days that turn in all directions. When you are sitting down you can move the globe in any direction comfortable and see the very top or bottom with no effort. There are only two companies that still seem to make these. I opted out of the ones with lights in them or that turn to the stars at night because this was important enough to me. I also chose the large 16" as my eyes are no longer what they were and the print is larger so it lets me read all the towns in the states or countries with ease. It is big!! You can get a 12" size also to my recall. I saw a couple bad reviews but got it anyway and my globe arrived in perfect condition with no issues that I can find of shoddy work. I am very pleased and highly recommend this globe. With all the things going on in todays world I am finding myself often looking up where certain countries are or how large they are...and this comes in so handy even though I am long since out of school.
