Reflecting on the Serenity Prayer

Reading this book will open the door to a relationship with God that is far better than talking to a tree or the ocean
St. Francis' Serenity Prayer is one of the most overlooked prayers in addiction programs. The wee version does not come close to knowing exactly what the entire prayer was aiming at, and does a disservice to Bill and Bob of AA, as well as any other program. This book widens and expands on the "real" thing.... that deliverance from addictions does not come from formulating a "higher power" to suit your own interests... deliverance comes from accepting the facts that are the keynotes of this prayer... there is only one God; it is His power that delivers, through His grace extended to us, and His mercy shown to us in His Son, Jesus. Why ask for deliverance from anything less than the God who created us, and wants us to be fully functional human beings? Reading this book will open the door to a relationship with God that is far better than talking to a tree or the ocean, or just pretending that anything else will do. Why cheat yourself, and cut yourself short of knowing? Read the book and you will want to know more.

Review
An excellent review of what serenity can be for us if we are willing to embrace and put into practice the serenity prayer

Love love love this book
This book takes some time to read as it is worth all the pondering I could spend on it. I have learned so much. A good example of what it means to not know cause you didn't know you didn't know, and where have I been all this time? it is a wonderful small book I continue to carry around in my purse and read when I find myself in a waiting area...
