Bigger than I expected. Really strong, high quality. This gate wheel is an exceptional value.

I had a large 5' wide gate built, and despite being built with an anti-sag gate kit it began to sag.. After cutting the bottom off one side to prevent it from rubbing on the concrete walkway, it sagged more, to the point where it was now grinding against the closing side gate post. Mounted this wheel, and everything worked out perfectly. As it turned out the slope in my concrete caused the wheel to increase spring tension as it closes, which helps dampen the closing spring I put on the gate. Now it closes itself nice and slowly, no slamming! Also regarding the reviewers upset about no mounting hardware included, the easy answer is this: The manufacturer wouldn't know how your gate was built or where you'd mount it. So if they did include hardware, you'd likely be complaining about it not working for your application. Go to the hardware store and buy some washers, lock washers, bolts and nuts, done.

Got this hooked up to my gate, and for the most part it works. It was easy to install. It helps my wood fence gate, which is about 5' wide, travel very well. It also assists in avoiding gate sag. The problem it has, is that when it meets any resistance, there is enough play in the caster that it will bend towards the gate and the wheel will bind against the wood picket, causing the wheel to lock up and "skid" across the concrete. Right before my gate closes there is a slight bump up between the driveway and the patio concrete pads. This is where it binds and there is now a 6" black skid mark on the patio as well as on the gate panel. This needs a smaller caster (which I don't recommend) or more distance between the bracket and the caster post so that when it does bend from slight resistance, it doesn't bind against the fence.

These are very sturdy wheels and brackets. They hold our gate that's used multiple times a day. Before replacing, we had these exact same wheel brackets and they were 15 years old. They roll nicely over concrete, hold a lot of weight, and they fit and look nice.

Made Very Well

The wheel is 4 inches in diameter. It works well on rough surfaces and even through snow. I have two in use and just bought a third for another gate. They also support and level the gates, making it easier to open and close, and looking better
