Does the job well
Considering this was my first barbed wire fence and I've not used a tool to pull wire before... I found this chain strainer to be well worth the money. It took me a while to get the hang of using it, but once I had some practice, the tool was easy to use. This strainer is of good quality and would expect that it would last a lifetime (and longer).

Well worth it
One of the best things I could have gotten for doing the fence. I wish I bought it a few months earlier.

Fence strecher

Not the easiest.
It works but there's no way to really ease off the tension to release the end(s) from wire or a post. Great for storing compared to a conventional as it does break down to take up relatively little space.

Chain binds with no way to achieve maximum tension
I purchased this to use for installation and repairs of farm fencing. I've tried to get a strong pull on the fence but once the chain gets a good bit of tension on it, the grip can not bite into the chain. I used a hammer to force it in but it was way too unsafe to bang on a chain while try to hold the stretching tension on it.I missed the 30 day return window, but would return in a split second if I could. DO NOT BUY. No where near worth the money.

Excellent stretcher
This stretcher is awesome. It’s a little confusing the steps required to relax the tension but once you got that down it’s a breeze to use. Very powerful and an all around great tool.

Decent Fence Strainer
It takes a bit of practice but this can be an effective tool. Directions and tips are very poor or non-existent. The grippers have a hard time holding some wire, part of it is simply trial and error. This is a bit of a cheaper version, but does work for me. Have used it 150 times or so and it will stretch fence, just a hassle with where the knot must be tied in relation to the handle and releasing can be a bit tricky at first. Not a high end unit, but does the job adequately.
