This certified refurbished Dyson DC41 Upright Ball Vacuum is engineered for outstanding cleaning performance and ease of use. It has the strongest suction at the cleaner head, which automatically self-adjusts for different carpet lengths and hard floors. The DC41 features Dyson’s latest Radial Root Cyclone technology, Ball technology for smooth steering, and a large 0.55-gallon bin. Ball technology for upright vacuums Dyson Ball upright vacuums ride on a ball, which pivots on the spot so you can steer with a turn of the wrist. The ball also houses core technology, including the motor and ducting. There’s less clutter, so it’s easier to clean in awkward places, along edges, and around furniture. Strongest suction at the cleaner head Many upright vacuums use fixed settings, and their cleaner heads don’t self-adjust to different floor types. The bigger the gap between cleaner head and floor, the more suction power is wasted. With the DC41, an active base plate creates the optimal cleaner head contact for every floor type, reducing air leaks and retaining more suction power. It’s designed for outstanding performance across all floors--not just carpets. Powerful and durable The DC41 is constructed from materials selected for strength, flexibility, and tolerance. Many parts are made from polypropylene reinforced with 20 percent glass fibers and high-impact PC-ABS. Using these materials means greater strength from less plastic, so the machine is lightweight. Motorized brush bar Stiff nylon bristles spin at up to 90 times per second to agitate carpet pile and dislodge ground-in dirt and pet hair, and the brush bar can be turned off to protect delicate rugs and hard floors. Captures allergens and expels cleaner air Unlike ordinary vacuums that can’t always retain all the dust they remove, venting some of it back into your room in the air they expel, the DC41 captures and contains microscopic particles such as pollen, mold and bacteria.Hygienic and quick to emptyEmptying the bin on a Dyson vacuum is quick and hygienic. The bin is clear, so you can see when it needs emptying and how much dust, dirt, and pet hair the machine has captured. Just press the release button to empty the bin.

Some observations
Very happy with it. Here's a few things that I've noticed:Negative:* The upright lock is a little more delicate than I'm used to but I got used to it quickly. I prefer the foot pedal unlock.* The hose attachment is not the best I've used. It's a bit hard to pull, but I can overlook it because the vacuum doesn't do the "fall over and dent the floor" trick that other uprights I've owned do. It works just fine for stairs and I don't have to make multiple passes at corners.Positives:* The suction is no joke. It picks up the pet hair and dirt better than my prior vacuum. I vacuum less frequently now and the carpets look nicer longer.* The dirt container doesn't suffer the same design flaw as the handheld version where fur clumps get stuck and won't fall out without assistance.* Much lighter than other vacuums that I've used. I don't dread hauling it up the stairs.* You can turn off the roller bar.I managed to snag this during a gold box deal for $200, I would say it's worth $250-300 without hesitation. $350-400+ seems steep, for that I would consider a Meile instead.

Refurb is almost always a great deal
My wife had been wanting one of these for a while. Like she was intentionally trying to wreck the current vacuum so she had an excuse to buy one. Low and behold a deal for a refurb comes along so I got it for her. It's what seems like an essentially brand new Dyson vac in some plain packaging and it's been performing above and beyond for months now. If you don't want to spend the premium for one of these then definitely go the refurb route, especially if they're running a special.

It's nice to have all of the attachments right on the ...
We've been considering purchasing a Dyson for awhile now. We've had a Kirby G4 for many, many years and it has served us well so it was hard to justify the expense of another vacuum. However, when I saw the Gold Box deal come up for the certified refurbished Dyson, I could not resist. I have to say that so far I am very impressed with the Dyson. It is much less cumbersome to use than our Kirby. It's nice to have all of the attachments right on the unit itself. I'm very happy with this purchase and think I'll finally retire the Kirby.

Amazing Vacuum
They Dyson is unbelievable. Our old vacuum was on it's last legs, so we went for it with the Dyson Refurb. As a test, I vacuumed our playroom rug (where the kids and the dog hang out the most), with our old vacuum first, and then went back over it with the Dyson and was amazed at how much debris it picked up that the old vacuum did/could not.Ease of disposing waste, and not having to worry about a bag are just icing on the cake.

I was amazed at how much better this vacuum worked
**UPDATE**After 8 months of minimal use, the vacuum no longer works well. I'm very disappointed, and should have trusted my gut instinct about not purchasing a refurbished item.I was nervous about purchasing a refurbished vacuum, but really wanted a Dyson without having to spend $500+ on one. I have a two-story home and currently have two DC07 Dyson vacuums. I was amazed at how much better this vacuum worked! We have new, high pile carpet and the old vacuum didn't work that well on it. This Dyson worked fantastic! It picked up EVERYTHING! It was easy to maneuver, although it will take some getting used to. I also liked that it was able to get so much closer to the wall than my old vacuum. It even left those amazing "cut lines" on the carpet which make me feel like my house looks even cleaner. I love it so far! I would highly recommend purchasing this vacuum!

Awesome
Vacuum was easy to put together and came with easy instructions. Only think I dont care for is the mobility of it. Just seems hard to guide when using it. Other than that its great!

Excellent vacuum.
Have only used it 3 times, but it does a remarkably good job - far better than the old Kenmore unit it replaced. But, assembly was perplexing - only have a numbered schematic which caused me to start over several times. And, it is not as easy to navigate as the TV commercials suggest. It does a great vacuuming job.

Great vacuum!
Fantastic weird purple pink vacuum! Others have commented already about how much this thing sucks (in a good way) but I'll just make the note that the ball does have a bit of a learning curve. If you're used to really sawing back and forth in a straight line (particularly with an older/heavier upright) this will feel a bit odd for a few weeks. Once you get past that It's great!
