Ground Fighting Techniques to Destroy Your Enemy: Street Based Ground Fighting, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Mixed Marital Arts Fighting Techniques (Self-Defense)

An excellent short volume that covers a lot of material on ground fighting techniques.
As someone who has practiced and been involved in numerous martial arts seriously for more than 7 decades, (Judo, Jujitsu, Karate-Do, Combatives, Krav Maga, and numerous weapon arts) when I saw this short 60 pages manual (Ground fighting techniques to destroy your enemy by Sam Fury) on Amazon I decided to purchase it.I have read and wrote reviews on hundreds of martial art and self-defense related books over the years and this small volume is an example of how “good things often come in small packages.” This booklet also provides a wonderful example of how you can put an enormous number of techniques, with great illustrations by the way, with a just little organization and imagination in only 60 pages. This small very informative booklet covers the following material: Safety, break falls, conserve your energy, bringing your opponent down, rear mount, escaping the rear mount, rear naked choke, full mount, ground and pound, roll your opponent over, Copacabana choke, the straight arm bar, escaping the full mount, guard positions, guillotine, arm triangle choke from the guard, straight arm bar from the guard, Kamura from the guard, escaping the guard, side mount, side mount to full mount, Kimura from the side mount, side mount arm bar, escaping the side mount, escaping the head lock, ankle locks, heel hook, straight ankle lock, and toe hold. Further, each one of the above techniques is actually illustrated with clear drawings, which are often much better than photographs when showing self-defense techniques. This fantastic little book is just about a complete review of basic MMA (mixed martial arts) and Jujitsu ground techniques. It even shows you how to properly make a fist for ground and pound. As I emphasize in all the martial art and self-defense books I review (even the ones I have written), in order to actually learn and master the techniques in this book you should have actual hands-on training from an instructor. Combining hands-on training with reading this book (or any other psychomotor skill book) will produce the best results. If you are seeking a small easy to read book on ground techniques of MMA and Jujitsu to use as a basic reference source in your hands-on training, this is a must book to have in your personal library. Yes, I am going to keep this excellent volume as a quick reference source in my personal library.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J. Throughout the entire book the author does an excellent job of not only informing you
This is a new subject for me but one that I am finding more and more compelling. Taking steps to protect oneself and keep fit in the interim makes a lot of sense. Knowing that stereotypical martial arts in themselves are not the answer is an eye-opener. It is important to make the distinction between them and defensive disciplines. Throughout the entire book the author does an excellent job of not only informing you, but entertaining you as well. The author does an excellent job of exposing the truth about many of the martial arts myths, legends, and mysteries. Overall this is a good book injecting some much needed reality into the many myths that surround the martial arts. The information is presented well by Sam Fury who clearly has good martial arts experience and knowledge. The book is a fast read and held my interest throughout. Enjoy

Fantastic Job...
Ground fighting techniques to destroy your enemy is literally a 'no holds barred' approach to groundwork. I love the way all situations are taken into account. If one aspect of a move doesn't work, then "do this"--never giving in to the unpredictability of your opponent. I studied Krav Maga for a year and a half, and already had exposure to some of the techniques. I learned more than I already knew, that's for sure. This reads like "Bruce Lee's Tao of Jeet Kune Do", full of illustrations but light on philosophy with more emphasis on instruction. Not at all a bad approach, you will have endless hours of quality training. Get your ground game up, buy this!

VERY basic
This book, or so called book is more like a small pamphlet or brochure. It has some good techniques in it but only for the person that doesn't know anything basic. It has a rear naked choke, the basics of the mount position, and the difference between full guard and half guard. Like I said, very basic on a small pamphlet type book with very few pages. Should be worth $0.99 retail. If you're looking to learn the very basics and have no knowledge of ju jitsu or the basics of the ground game, this could be a book for you, otherwise stay away.

Surprised me
I really didn't put much faith in a short pamphlet on ground fighting, but I've got to give this one credit. It does a decent job covering the basics that you would learn in the first few months in most jujitsu classes, it just lacks a training partner.

It's a pamphlet not a book
Pamphlet Idk how thrilled I am. I got this for someone in jail who wanted to learn self defense while in. I picked this over wing Chun because shipping was a little bit faster(2 day's) but the guy said it's a pamphlet not long and didn't have any info. Just know it's not a book book.

I thought martial arts weren't for me
I have always thought that martial arts were not for me, because I am more like a peaceful guy. But I saw that this was not just about hitting to your opponent, but to gain discipline and self-confidence. It also increased my strength and stamina while learning something new. I’m really happy to have acquired this book.

Ground fighting
I love this book and the simplicity of what the author is sharing with us the readers. I am glad that I found this book as I just keep to the basics. I am going to add this to my catch wrestling.

Very small and thin
Ok if it’s something very basic and thin you are looking for - but looks like a book you would get for free - defo not worth the price.

Yeah.... nah
If u could grab 50 of these for $100 they're perfect to slip inside a beginner's 'welcome pack' with a gi, mouthguard etc. Save up n buy Steve Scott's 'Tap Out Textbook' and/or Renzo Gracie's 'Mastering JiuJitsu'. Like grandad use to say "spend cheap, spend twice."
