I learned a few tips and tricks through this book and also what works and how much I should expect from Dragon. It was short and to the point.

The book did offer me a few tips that I didn't know, but it could have been said in a lot less pages. I can't help thinking that the author is trying to sell more pages. There is quite a bit of repetition.

The book does not do justice to the title printed on its cover. I have revised the title as I thought fit.

This book was what eventually convinced me to try Dragon. I'm a slow writer, sitting at 20-30 wpm, so the speed gain alone is worth it. Walking outside with a dictaphone is also great for me, as I, too, suffer from the damage a disc herniation caused some years ago. This book was a great guide, helped me decide to get a dictaphone and, to be honest, made the whole undertaking less is intimidating.

Great book! Everyone who just bought Dragon should read it. You will avoid many hours of frustration by using Dragon well, right from the start. A must read!

I have used dictation in the past but need to develop an ongoing habit of doing so. This book covers the use of Nuance’s Dictation software on Windows and Apple machine in great detail. It is pragmatic guide to using dictation to encourage mainly authors to increase their output dramatically. There are other Dictation softwares out there but the do not compare favorably with Nuance’s offering. The emphasis is on the adoption and use of the tool ...almost error free dictation to drive the creators word count and thereby improve their productivity. Well worth reading.

This book gives some good advice for using the Dragon dictation software. It assumes that you are going to use it to dictate a book, but it also works well for data entry. This book recommends against the home version of Dragon because it lacks the ability to transcribe a recording. However, I have no desire to make a recording for later transcription, so the home version works fine for me. The dictation feature built into Windows 10 has a major bug in that it about 7 times out of 8 interprets the words new line as the literal words "new line" rather than going to the next line. Dragon does not have this problem. This book states that microphone volume should be set to 80% for good microphones, but the Snowball Blue Ice microphone recommended by the book has very low volume when making a recording with Audacity or Windows Voice Recorder unless you set the volume to 100% and place your mouth 4 finger widths away from the Microphone. A headset that I have does have to have the microphone volume set to 80% to avoid clipping.

Wer sich mit der Idee trägt, in Zukunft mehr zu diktieren als zu schreiben (was sehr hand- und rückenfreundlich ist!), sollte sich diesen Ratgeber unbedingt vor dem Kauf von Soft- und Hardware zulegen. Damit vermeidet man Fehlkäufe und auch falsches "Training" des Spracherkennungsprogramms. Fazit: Sehr lesenswert!
