This album rocks!
This album released 30 years ago, I was only 7 in 1989. So I wasn't too familiar with Alice Cooper outside of maybe hearing about him on TV or hearing a few of his songs featured in movies. Like "School's Out" or "He's Back, The Man Behind The Mask." So it was a long road ahead before I could fully appreciate Alice Cooper's music. Then in 2000 or 2001 I heard the song "Gimme", which had me sold on Alice Cooper. I bought Brutal Planet. Later on I would buy Dragontown. Once I had Spotify, I started exploring more of Alice Cooper's music. I started listening to his older albums and I absolutely loved it. So I end up buying favorite one, which is "Trash". Although there is nothing trashy about this album. I love songs like Poison, Bed Of Nails, Spark In The Dark, and Why Trust You. This album gets a solid 5 stars from me.

Alice's best work, IMO
Alice's best work, IMO, recorded on awesome red vinyl. Killer! Cover folds out to reveal the lyrics. Love it!

A bit shallow but very a solid offering from the Coop
"Trash" is not Alice Cooper's best but it's immensely enjoyable nonetheless. A reviewer here has pointed to the fact that Mr. Cooper hangs his head in shame on the cover while delivering unabashed "Trash". I find that pretty funny as it may actually contain quite a bit of truth. Alice Cooper is not a very complicated musician lyrically speaking but his endless diversified quest in finding a right sound has produced some very memorable albums. At this point in his career he was having a tough time getting a hit single so he enlisted a hit maker (Desmond Child) to aid him in that respect. Also here are artists Joan Jett, Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora and Steven Tyler, who by the way had all been a bit influenced by the Coop, helping Cooper get to the top of the charts. IT WORKED.On this album there are at least two classics; "Poison" and "Bed of Nails". Numbers like "Spark in the Dark", "House of Fire", "Only My Heart Talkin'" and the title track go down really well and overall this is a fine Cooper album, although a bit more shallow than usually.I treasure this album as it helped the Coop get visible again and he needs not hang his head in shame as far as I'm concerned.

Good title.
Having Desmond Child involved in this neutered the album. Has about 3 good songs. Members of Aerosmith add nothing and detract from each song. I’m amazed Alice rejuvenated his career with this. It must have been right for the time, but has aged poorly.

Eighties and nineties music
I heard this entire album before. I knew that I had to have one.

Lips of venomous poison.
Possibly the biggest of Cooper's 80's rock/metal career. Truly a fist pumping headbanger full of great songs and nostalgic undertones.

Alice Cooper-Trash (1989)
After being a Alice Cooper fan for many years this is the one album that I had neglected and never given a listen to. Mainly because the bad rap it's always gotten as being "sell out" or "corparate" So now that I finally have all of Alice's albums I figured I would give it a shot. I am listeing to it right now as I write this review and I have to say I like this album...Calling it a sell out is not the best way to describe it, But it is a very trendy album for 1989 Hard Rock and the move to include Desmond Child and Bon Jovi don't help matters much. I call this album his "Alice Jovi" period. Being the follow up to maybe my favorite Alice album ever "Raise Your Fist And Yell" it is disapointing, But some of the tunes are some of his best ever "Poison" "This Maniacs In Love With You" "Trash" "Hell Is Living Without You" are all excellent...But my favorite track on this album is "House Of Fire" which I think is a perfect Alice Cooper song. The only tune I don't care for is "Only My Heart Talkin" It doesn't fit Alice at all and could have been a song for any paint by numbers Hard Rock band of 1989, And the riff in "Spark In The Dark" is a total Bon Jovi rip off (yuck) I think any Alice Cooper fan can find something to dig on this album...Is it his best work ever? Nope but it is a good solid Rockin album...It's worth 5 dollars :)

Trash.....not really
A great album with some tunes that never got their airtime on the radio. My only grip was I had ordered the version with 2 additional tracks but the one I got sent to me was just the standard issue version and I'm sure I waited too long to return it so I'm stuck with it. Otherwise I am satisfied.

An album of two halves.
Produced in 1989 this AC album is best remembered for the track 'Poison' which was a huge late 80's hit (I remember it being released during the summer of the same year) and hardly surprising, because it did have a catchy riff and first rate guitar playing by John McCurry. But can the rest of this album live up to the title number? Well yes and no,due to the fact I consider this album to be one of two halves, that is,five good songs and the rest not much more than filler really.'Poison','Spark In The Dark','Bed Of Nails','Hell Is Living Without You' and 'I'm Your Gun' are what I consider the best tracks out of the ten in total, with the rest being somewhat forgettable to be honest.More or less an average Alice Cooper album.

Bin and Gone
Once again Alice tweeked his musical style in order to speak to the masses. Constrictor and Raise Your Fist... worked to a degree in niche market sales and brought him back into the public eye once again but didn't capture the hearts of the masses as he once had. Trash and his collaboration with Desmond Child changed all that and he was on top again. 'Poison' peaked to the heady heights of most music charts and began bothering the airways ever since. It is still played relatively regularly today, which cannot be said for anything he had written after Welcome to My Nightmare. It was a big deal and it had taken a long time but Alice had been moved to the A-list once more. His single and album sold by the thousands. But this was to the detriment of the music. While it is by no means his worst album, it even doesn't hold the same grip as his previous 2 efforts. The music is still heavy rock but with more of a glam and grime bent. It's subject matter is sex, not horror and it has a drunken swagger rather than a thumping heartbeat. And the opener, 'Poison', is the perfect introduction to the updated Alice for the looming 90s. I won't critique it as you probably have heard it a million times by now. Oh, go on then - it's reeeaaalllyyy cheesy but absolutely brilliant. It's up there with 'Livin On A Prayer' and 'I Don't Want To Miss A Thing'. Rawk! 'Spark in the Dark' is pretty good and follows the dirty, yet sexy remit well. Nice tune. 'House of Fire' is more anthemic but falls a little short in my opinion. It's ok. The same can be said for 'Why Trust You'. It's a filler track, nothing more. 'Only My Heart Talkin' is better and is a ballad that works well with the rest of the album. Not perfect but much better.'Bed Of Nails' is another cracker. Not quite classic but pretty close and nearer in tone to the Alice of old. 'This Maniac's In Love With You' is another filler track really. The title track is a pretty decent, grungey, grimey, dirty little rawk song. But not the best. 'Hell is Living Without You' is an ok ballad. And 'I'm Your Gun' is a by-the-numbers rousing, rockin' ending that is good but not great. The song of note here is 'Poison'. Yes it has been played to death and I find it a little hard to listen to but it is clearly the best track on the album. The other tracks are not awful either, most are pretty good, but they are nowhere near classic.A standard effort that left behind the great lyricist and brought in the lechy uncle. A leaning towards rock MOR was to come...

Highly recommended
Great album, my first hard rock cd and venture into this genre. Alice Coopers musicianship is inspiring and brilliant. I enjoyed the songs and surprisingly could hear and distinguish the words! Well mostly anyway. Highly recommended.

Venomous
Arguably his best album of the 80s. There's cameos from Aerosmith & Bon Jovi too. This is the album where Poison comes from.

Anything But Trash
Trash is a great rock/metal album of it's time but it still sounds fresh today with songs such as Poison, Spark in the Dark and Bed of Nails. Trash and Poison returned Alice Cooper to the Top Ten, in both the UK and the US charts, for the first time in over ten years. This was done without compromising standards, I don't think there is one weak song on this album. I bought Trash on it's release in 1989 and I still regularly listen to it 20 years on.

NOT new as advertised
The album it self was brilliant. The only downside to the purchase was that it was advertised as new when clearly it wasnt as it so happend to have a receipt in it from 1989. So for that reason it gets 2 stars.
