This little solar lamp is still going strong after 3 years.
I purchased one of these quite a while back as a deal of the day. I thought it would be fun for camping, which it is...works nicely hung from a tent top. It's kind of dusty and scratched, but the light is still just as bright as when I got it. I would definitely purchase this again. Makes a nice gift and a great addition to an emergency kit.I thought this would be more of a novelty item, and have kept it on my bedroom windowsill. It's ended up being pretty handy. Someone is always misplacing the flashlights or not replacing batteries, so I end up grabbing this little light for evening dogwalks, to search for lost items in dark corners, under beds and wherever they happen to be lost. I also throw it in my backpack or suitcase when I travel, just in case.I wouldn't rely on the trickle charger to charge a smartphone, but I guess in an emergency, it's worth a try. You'd have to turn the phone off and chargeI read reviews about handles breaking and the accordion plastic being flimsy, but I don't find that to be the case with the little light that I have. I just think you need to be careful opening and closing the two sides, which does take a bit of hand strength, but once you figure out how to do it, it's pretty easy. All in all, it;s a portable, easy to use solar light. I like it and would definitely buy it again.

I got this from the "deal of the day" a ...
I got this from the "deal of the day" a few weeks back and have done some preliminary testing. The biggest gripe I have is about charging with the micro-usb outlet. Very quickly after a few charges you have to fiddle with the plug to get the charge going. It does charge in about 4 hours from a dead start. On the low setting the light was still on after 15 hours, but significantly less brighter. I haven't checked to see how long on the high setting yet. I used these in a 27x15 foot room on the low light setting and it illuminated the room very well!! As to whether they hold a charge while sitting in a drawer. Too early to tell. I've only gone 6 days from a full charge and when I recharged it it only took 10 minutes to green light. I need to do this after about a month and then I'll update the results. I also need to do further testing with the solar panel, but it does charge the phone via sunlight. VERY IMPORTANT about this next issue. When lantern is fully charged it will not fully charge your phone with its own battery supply. I tried it with both of these 3 times each. I have an iPhone 5s and each lantern only charged my phone less than 30% with its own internal battery supply. As far as I know you can only charge your phone with the solar panel. I still need to do some more testing to see if there is another method of charging the phone. So that's it for now. I will update at a later time with some more results. All in all a pretty good product. I'm keeping them. Once I'm done with all the final testing I'm considering buying a couple more if the price come down. I think they are a little overpriced. Hope this helps someone

Excellent customer service
Only thing I didn’t like was the accordion style shade that collapses came torn. Other than that it works great!Update: their customer service reached out immediately after seeing my review, asked questions and decided to issue a partial refund in addition to me keeping original item. I’m very happy with this level of customer service :)

Light weight and lights up a room!
I only have electricity for about 6 hours at a time, so this later serves as my main light in my Peace Corps home. It is bright enough to be able to cook and maneuver around when it is open, but if needed for reading,it is best to close the accordion and click it shut to use the disc light on the bottom. The light lasts all night on the lowest of the 2 level settings, but will be very dim the last few hours. I do love that is is not only solar, but can be wall shared as well. I charge it indoors but at times there are days without electricity, so the solar option is great. It is hockey-puck size when collapsed, so easy to travel with. The little handle is pretty thin and flimsy, but it does the job. It is not permanently attached, so it popped out once or twice when I was pulling open the two halves to put it in lantern mode. It is a bit tough to separate the halves, and you definitely cannot pull on the handle to do so, because it will likely detach or break it.

Bit pricey but very good
I bought two. One for general use and camping and one for the BOB (Bug Out Bag) I'm putting together after NOT being prepared to evacuate (Miami) for what was expected to be a direct hit from Hurricane Irma.I'd love to buy more as gifts, but at $18 I will have to be selective. When I saw the small boxes I thought they would be too tiny. Compressed, the lantern reminds me of two stacked cans of chewing tobacco (not a pleasant thought but each segment is smaller than a can of tuna!)You can press the "on" button and have an instant hockey-puck style of flashlight. I'm going to keep one with me by the recliner to find my way to bed after I turn off the TV.I will admit to a slight difficulty in separating the parts but I don't have much strength in my hands. That said, the extended lantern is wonderful. Gives plenty of light.I just wish they had found a way to make storage space for the USB cable. Waay too easy to misplace it. I'll try attaching one of those little silky gauze gift bags to the handle. This will spoil the aesthetics of a nifty light but I need to have that cable handy.Highly recommend.
