Quality and price make it a good deal

wow!!! the durability on these socket bits is so good, even the complex uv jointed socket is incredibly bulky and engineered to be very sturdy. i lost mine while working on my car and i found it a couple days later and even after being ran over a couple times it works fine! i have also used the 3/8 socket set extensively for over a year or so and found no issues whatsoever even though they come at such a low price. all around good product at a discount from traditional brands. it has all the 3/8 sockets you would use, and provides competitively priced value

The sockets and case are good quality with just minor issues. The laser etching on the sockets appears to be weak sauce. But fortunately there is also size stamping on the sockets. The case only captures the top half sockets, the bottom sockets are just resting in their spots. So if you don't open the case in the correct orientation all sockets fall down. Guess how I know? But since I have them in socket organizers in my tool box the case issue doesn't bother me. The case however does have nice metal buckle clasps on the front, and plastic clips on the sides to keep all sockets secured when closed. The last thing I noticed are they appear to be less substantial than my other impact sockets. I put an 8mm next to an 8mm from Kobalt, and these look like chrome sockets painted black. But time will tell if they hold up to the abuse of an impact wrench.

Positive initial impression of this comprehensive and reasonably priced impact socket set supplied in a pretty sturdy case. I can’t comment on the sockets performance because of the limited use to date. For those like me who always avoid made in communist China junk, here is the actual information mentioned on the packaging “Product of Taiwan, Vietnam, finished in mainland China”. Therefore as long as the communist China’s involvement was limited to no more than the molded plastic case and the packaging, this socket set should be pretty durable.

Excellent set. Good size range. All sizes present as advertised. Used the sockets both directly on a ratchet as well as on extensions. They all fit well and work as intended. Convenient storage case, just don't open it upside down or half the sockets will fall out.

I'm just a "hobby" mechanic, but I've beat on a few of these with a compact Astro pneumatic compact gun, as well as an adaptor on a half inch Snap-On magnesium impact. In particular, the 15mm deep socket eventually got a really tight, rusty catalytic conveyor nut off, and the 1/2-3/8 impact adaptor (not part of this kit) ended up twisted up. The socket, including the square drive hole, still looks brand new. And the nut came off. :) No one makes a 3/8 impact that makes anywhere near the torque of that half inch impact, so they should easily last a good long time with what they're designed for. The case is also nicely made, with a real hinge and metal latches. So it shouldn't just break from fatigue like a cheaper "bending plastic" hinge. And it has a complete selection of sizes anyone's likely to use with a 3/8 impact gun. Overall, I'm really happy with this purchase, as with most gear wrench tools.

Excellent starter kit for the money and has most of the common sizes you'll need to get your project rolling. First off the visual stuff.. a sturdy grey plastic hard case to carry all the stuff in, nice bold molded in markings for the sizes of sockets as well as the sockets and extensions have nice bold printed and stamped sizes on the side just in case the printed markings come off which they usually do with any tool being used. The sockets have a light texture as if they were sand or bead blasted before finishing, it is a very light texture though almost slick so if you have a lot of crud on your hands they might be slightly difficult to change out especially if you have a tool with a friction ring that grips tight. These sockets are 6 point 3/8" drive and work with the standard ball dentient or a friction ring, also it does come with a swivel or pivot type head attachment. Lots of reviews on this product not many posted pictures of the set though,I have posted several pictures with this review so I hope it helps.

All I can say is WOW. I am 51 years old and I have bought a lot of tools over my life time so far but this is the one purchase I was and still am really excited about. I still can not believe I stole this GearWrench 3/8" 44 piece impact socket set for under $100.00. What is not to like. Yes this set was made in China but for this price I will continue to buy it over and over again. Pros: -You get a really good assortment of SAE/Metric impact sockets. Metric is why I bought this set. -You get 8mm - 21mm with only the 20mm missing. -You get both shallow and deep impact rated sockets. -They are Chrome molybdenum alloy steel for really added strength. -They are Black oxide coated to help resist corrosion. -You get a 3" and a 6" impact rated extensions plus you get a 3/8" impact rated universal joint. -The sizes are laser etched and hard stamped into the metal so seeing the sizes is not a issue. - You get a really sturdy case with 2 metal clasps in the from and 1 plastic one on each side. Cons: Some people may see being Made in China as a con but you are not going to find a better set for this price. To me it is not a Con. Sure it would be nice to see this set made in the USA or Canada but then it would cost 3 times as much. As a DIYer like myself this is just the right set at just the right price. I can not justify spending the expensive tool truck prices as a DIYer. Overall: I am really excited to use this set. This is the perfect set for the DIYer or for the Automotive mechanics that are just starting out in their careers. GearWrench offers a really tool at a really affordable price that comes with a lifetime warranty even if bought from Amazon. What else can you ask for! This kit has everything a modern day Automotive mechanic would need in a 3/8" impact rated socket set. Sure it is a little weak on the SAE side but mostly everything is metric now a days. You can not go wrong buying this kit in my opinion. As I sated above, I can not justify or afford to spend the high tool truck prices or even the more expensive tools on Amazon because companies like Gray will not give a warranty if bought from Amazon.

Sockets work well, nice and grippy. I do wish the slots for them were a little tighter as essentially everything on the bottom just sits loose and can fall around if you don’t leave the foam in the middle.

Used in everyday garage activity. Well marked and well laid out in the sturdy case. Delivery was more prompt than I anticipated.
