simple, convenient and reliable
I was skeptical when unboxing, but after reviewing several other similar higher brand models for about two to three times the cost, I decided to go middle of the road in price based on what I wanted them for, to compliment more commercial style heavier duty ones that I already own. I am satisfied and not disappointed. Just a heads-up, they do not come with batteries, but do not let that discourage you. Their quality makes up for the sacrifice of a pack of rechargeable batteries for $12.00. When shopping for backup radios or those to give your kids and family to back up more expensive ones that are more complicated, I definitely recommend these. The Squelch privacy tones (CTSS) are easy to set as well as the weather channels (Note: there are no Digital Privacy tones, only CTSS). Very functional, and already tested at a 1/4 of a mile with zero static in an urban setting at a walking park to a house. If you are looking for high performance with complex settings and adjustments, these are not the radio for you, but like I said earlier, if you are looking for simple addition to give out to kids, family while on an outing or a function, you will be happy. Like I tell people, do not order $20-50 radios expecting "Rockstar" in a handheld radio, and then negatively rate what you paid for, be fair. If you want long range commercial performance then reevaluate what you need them for, what you expect and then what you can afford to spend. No complaints here and very happy with these.

These little guys have it all... Camping season here we come.
We needed a new adult set for camping this season. These are RECHARGABLE, Amen!! They charge quickly and seem to last a long while. They come with an earset, which is very nice in shared camp areas with the mouth my husband has on him.. lol and they have clear, crisp sound which is easy to understand. They are also have a flashlight and weather channel access. Perfect walkie talkies for the GROWN UPS who still find them useful, and now I won't have to walk around with a bright pink child's walkie talkies when I leave camp. We've not tested total distance on these yet, but what we have tested so far has been good. They come with everything you need to be up and running... Rechargable batteries, cords, clips... The whole 9 yards. They have a nice heft to them so they don't feel cheap, but are still lightweight and easy to clip on without them dragging your clothes down. Read the instructions to access all the functions, because they all aren't labeled with their own button, but very simple to figure out and use. They also have a VOX function so they work when you speak without pressing the talk button.

Generally good, but batteries that come with it don't hold up
The first issue I hit was the way the instructions are written for setting the channel makes it sound like you press (and hold) the Menu button, but all that does is toggle the keypad lock!!!I finally figured out that what you do is press and release the Menu button, then the channel number will flash and you can change it. If you don't want to change the channel press the Menu button again and it will advance to the sub-channel option. Likewise you can keep pressing and releasing the Menu button to move though the other configuration options. So if you are having problems getting the channel number to flash following the instructions try a quick press and release and that should do it.The sound quality is pretty good, we haven't tried long range yet but it seems to work well enough for the task we have in mind. The weather radio works about as good as our dedicated weather radio with aluminum siding, which is to say the signal is a bit weak, but that's not really the radio's fault.Where it falls down big time is with the rechargeable batteries that come with it. After a full charge they dropped to one bar after only about 5 or 6 minutes of testing the radios.I've tried another full charge to see it they get any better. But I suspect the batteries are junk, so I'll likely use the better grade batteries I use for our Shure wireless mics. Just a pain to need to use a separate charger in that case, and of course I'll try regular Alkaline batteries as well. But for the price, other than the batteries, these appear to be pretty decent.

They are ok...but get what you pay for I guess.
The recharge batteries and charger just plain suck. I put regular batteries in them and they still have full life. If I put the rechargeable in, I might get 5 min of use. 1 headset was not working on 1 of the walkie. Distance is so so. (We use ours in the city) I factor in interference due to city stuff. In order to get a full scan you must program. Sound quality is OK. We do loose the first couple of words when we key up. So for the price, I guess you get what you pay for.

Excellent Talkies
AWESOME!!! These walkie talkies Worked great on our recent camping trip for when the kids (ages 8 , 10 & 12) were exploring the campground. These are great way to stay in contact with the kids while also allowing them the freedom to explore. It really helped the parents and the kids knowing they could stay safe communicating with these awesome devices. Absolutely loved the power save function on these. We used them for the 3 day/2 night trip. They were excellent and worked perfectly. There were a few times where they got dropped, but they held up super well… Very sturdy in Durable! They survive my kids… So that’s saying a lot! My family definitely recommend these.

11 year old loves them
These were purchased by my daughter as a birthday present for her brother. He LOVES them. He used them while at Universal Studios Orlando. They worked well. Occasionally got static but there was a lot of background noise and electrical interferences. We were all over the parks, in different areas and never had an issue. The first day the battery died rather quickly, however my son was constantly playing with them. The following days he was not constantly calling or just playing and the battery lasted the entire day. I can speak for actual distance they worked across as I never really paid attention to how far apart we were.
