good for a laugh
I last saw one of Larson's books back in the early 90's and it was only through seeing something similar on my son's computer that I recalled it. This is not the one that I had a look at all those years back, but well worth keeping handy for a rainy day. Just wish I could remember which of Larson's many book had that sketch where one reindeer turns to another and comments on his target-shaped birthmark.

A little disappointing
I bought this book for my husband's birthday. It's quite a smal, thin book for the money, but the most disappointing thing is that the cartoons are all black and white. Still very funny but dull presentation.

a must-read for larsonists
this book is typical of gary larsons work as he takes us on a trip through his favourite subject, the humdrum life of insects and animals in our everyday life i also enjoy the way he draws humans with such expression and humour this is a typical gary larson book and will appeal to anyone who hasnt read any far side gallery books

Genius
The first Warner Books Far Side collection (originally published in the UK in 1984 - I read the 1993 WB edition), this is chock full of Larson goodness and, re-reading it after far too long, reminds me of why I fell in love with the strip in the first place (in fact, it features the “Betty, pull out, you’ve hit an artery” picture that got me into the Far Side in the first place). Highlights include the chin-up bar, duck relays, “I gotta be me!”, “Who’s the brains?”, goldish on the piano, Lulu’s tractor adventure, the “whoa!” spiders web, “Howdy, I’m a cowboy” and the melancholic anger of the one-legged elephant saying “a waste basket?”. Superb, extremely funny and a great read, this is highly recommended.
