Must Have for Hunting from an elevation
I'm looking to use this for deer hunting. I ordered one to be used on a lanyard, and liked it so much that I ordered a second one for ascending/descending a full lifeline. While practicing at low heights, assuming a hunter's safety line to the ground, these work great. I want to know that, in the event of a fall, I can safely perform a self-rescue and I definitely can with these. I tried using the HSS prusik knot for descending, but found that I couldn't get it to slide once loaded with my full body weight. If I take at least one of these with me ( with an extra climbing carabiner and my suspension relief strap ), then I know that I can relieve the tension from the prusik and utilize it in combination with the Ropeman1 to inch-worm my way down the rope. Otherwise, you'll have to learn how to climb a rope using the old brake and squat, like a Navy Seal or a Marine. If you hunt from an elevated position, please use a safety rope, and please take the time to figure out ( and test ) a method to get to the ground safely. In my personal opinion, all hunter safety systems still need to catch up with the standards that climbers and arborists utilize, and the Ropeman a step in that direction.

Loose your Prusik knot and get an Ascender!
Absolutely Love It! In fact, this is the second Ascender I've purchased! I am using them as part of my safety system for climbing in and out of my hunting stands and I have never felt more safe in my 30years of bowhunting! I have switched from using the conventional "hunters safety harness" to using a rock climbing harness and it has revolutionized my hunting experience! The rig I have put together has both a lineman's belt and the standard center loop so as I'm hanging climbing steps or my stand and encounter tree limbs I can put a tether around the the tree above the limb, and clip a Wild Country Ropeman Ascender into the center loop. Then unhook the second ascender from the lineman's belt, move it above the limb, and never be unattached from the tree! Then once in my stand I never have to mess around with getting a safety harness through the back of jacket again! Plus, by using the Climbing Harness attached in the center, I never have to worry about the tree tether getting in the way when I'm ready to shoot! And speaking of using the Lineman's belt...if you've every struggled trying to get a prusik knot to just the right length with one hand while holding onto the tree with the other...you are going to love how simple it is to use the Wild Country Ropeman Ascender! simply lift up on the cable loop to disengage the teeth and lean back to get more slack... or grab the tag end of the rope and pull yourself as tight to the tree as you want to be!Thanks Wild Country for a quality product that has changed the way I hunt!

Must have for linesman belt!
This is so worth the money if you are a hunter and are climbing with a linesman belt/rope. Prusik knots are very difficult to slide up the rope without using both hands, but this Ropeman is a breeze to operate one-handed. Makes a significant difference in the ease and speed of ascending and descending. It is also safer because you can hold the tree or steps with one hand while adjusting with the other hand, rather than having to use both hands to slide the prusik knot. This is one of those pieces of gear that is so cool you just smile when using it and wonder how you lived without it.

The best tool to climb a tree for Saddle Hunting!
Just got this little tool and it's mind blowing how efficient it's. You can climb a tree with ease using only one hand to loose or tight the tether rope. I still have a prusik knot connected to my harness in case any mechanical issue happen.I will order another one soon to have a backup.

A must have for saddle hunters
I use 2 of these in my climbing system, they work great! Way better and faster than a prussic. At first, I did not trust these to support my weight, especially in a small fall. After some use, I now trust these ascenders on my 11mm predator rope each time I hunt. The teeth have not worn my rope yet after several months of use.

Very lightweight and easy to use
Have a bunch of these now and love them. Primarily use on my linesman belt when climbing trees. Very easy on your ropes.

Saddle hunter
Love this thing for my lineman harness and tether. So much so I want to order another and Amazon doesn't know when this item will return! If you are a saddle hunter though, this is a 100% must have instead of using a prusick knot...

Have yet to use. Purchase was made in addition to other components to make a lineman's belt.
As to the Easy To Use rating - I base that on a video that uses it for a tree safety line for deer stand hunting. With the Value For Money rating - I am frugal, but would have rated it higher if I had a choice of color more in line with what a Hunter would choose - camo, forest green, dark brown or black.
