Comprehensive, practical method
A lot of jazz books spend a lot of time on voice leading and harmony, which is cool for a certain kind of person, namely, me, but it can be fairly intimidating and a barrier to entry. What I really like about this book, this entire series, really, is that they train your ear and hands by having you play through many exercises and examples, you will play a lot more than you read. Everything is broken down into constituting exercises. The theory builds alongside your ears and your hands. It’s a nice return to how Mickey Baker did things in his book.

Very Detailed.
This book covers a lot of material and is very well thought out. It builds in complexity as you go showing you a complete and concise method to play finger style jazz guitar. This book really opened up the fretboard for me and gave me the skills to improve my overall guitar playing ability. Great price for a great book. It teaches you the important intervals and melodic movement important to jazz as well as chromatic approach notes. I have only just grazed the surface and I have already improved quite a bit. My one complaint is that it really didn't cover any strange rhythmic territory, but that's okay for my level of ability its predominantly in standard meter.

Good well written book for the improving guitarist.
Well written in guitar speak for those with experience of playing the instrument. Each page covers the writers knowledge in comprehensive terms, and, for me performing the tab/ notation phrases is good exercise for the memory muscle.

You will have a basic understanding of chord melody, chord vocings and soling
I knew most of the stuff discussed in this book already but even so, there we some new things I learned. So it is worth reading even for players that are not absolute beginners in jazz. You should be a fairly comfortable player to execute the lessons, you need finger strength, precision, and an understanding of chor intervals.
