Detroit, the French years
This is a must read classic for historians of colonial Michigan and Windsor, ON. This sets the record straight on the earliest French Canadian settlers of the Detroit River. Cass, Wayne, Hamtramck, its all here. Windmills, orchards, ribbon farms, habitants, voyageurs, the principal churches, I can’t say enough good about this book.

Fast delivery and great product
A great book describing the early Detroit RIver Region and the French inhabitants who settled first when the whole area was under the jurisdiction of France, then Great Britain and then when the north side of the rive became under United Sates control when the south side of the river remained under British control. Highly recommended whether you are interested in the history of the region or the genealogy of these early settlers.

Great book, fills in local history
Gives a great background to the establishment of the French settlements/farms in the 1700s on both sides of the Detroit River. I now have a much clearer understanding of how and why things developed as they did.
