The BEST, most awesome Gig Poster Book Ever!
Well it is IMHO. Got it yesterday and haven't been able to put it down. Simply put this book is fantastic and I was blown away. I bought it based on these other reviews as I hadn't seen a copy in real life. Glad I took the plunge.I really like the way it is printed on nice, heavier stock and each page comes with perforations so you can tear out and display selected pieces as posters. It is a larger book (dimension-wise) and this lends itself well to the fact that it IS a poster book. Nothing worse than getting a new book on art posters or design and the like, only to find that the images are smaller than you'd like them to be and you miss out on great detail.I'm often doing music and gig posters, so for me this is a great little asset for inspiration. It has a little write-up on each of the artists/creative studios with a website for each which is handy and personally always appreciated. I highly recommend this book. There is a wide range of artists and tons of stuff I haven't seen before. There are something like 700 images and 100 rip out posters. I will now have to get a second copy so I can stick a few around the office and keep one for reference :)

Ideal for Adolescents
The most useful "critical" review listed here hits hard on the paper stock and "washed out" colors of the book. However, I strongly disagree with the color criticism on the color tone of the book. It's just the style used, here. The paper stock (not photo/poster quality- post-card type quality) is lower grade- HOWEVER I think that obviously allowed for a much higher volume of content. This is a book full of concert flyers, not a mesmerizing photography collection. Around $30 for 100 or so music flyers/mini-posters isn't going to get you great art or professional quality. It's good collection of concert flyers from a wide range of artists that is an interesting flip-through, though.Purchasing this and Vol 2 for my 16yr old nephew. With that adolescent interest in music that tends to explore all directions at random, this should be a good match.

Love at First Sight
Perfect. I didn't realize this was based off a website, which simply means I'll have to buy some larger sizes because gig posters are the BEST posters.EDITED TO ADD: Ok, the biggest problem with this is that finding frames for the cool posters is total CRAP. There are no premade frames that fit. The posters are a weird size and yes, I looked everywhere and no, I will not put such sweet prints on my wall in frames that come from Dollar Tree or Dollar General. That's like framing a Da Vinci with popsicle sticks, except popsicles sticks are better built than a Dollar Tree frame. So be careful. If you're like, "I'll put 6-8 up at a time," think again. Unless your plan is to spend like $300 on frames....well, that would be nice. But then we wouldn't be buying Gig Posters to accentuate our record collections and turntables.

Very Cool
It is very cool book and some very creative posters in it. It will keep you busy looking at it for a while and when you look at it again and again you always seem to find something you missed. Also you have 101 posters that you can eaisly take out and frame if you want to. My only complaint is on a lot of the artist they seem to pick the more lame posters to enlarge and the just show you all the way cooler ones that you would rather have enlarged to frame.

Not nearly as cool as I expected
I have to agree with another reviewer who criticized the publisher's choice of paper-stock for this. The selection of posters is pretty cool. For many who buy this, it will be a nice trip down memory lane or a survey of styles. But in terms of something you'd put on a coffee table, probably not. As a casual reference, it's ok. But all the colors are so washed out it totally saps the life from the artwork. If you're 17 and you hang posters with thumb-tacks or want to cover a whole wall on the cheap, then this could be cool. But If you plan on actually framing (let alone matting and framing) and of these, I'd think again because it's not going to look right. Cool concept, but lame execution. I'm still giving 3 stars because I haven't seen something that's really comparable, just in terms of content, but I'm a little disappointed.

Fan-Fricking-Tastic!
I bought this book for a co-worker. He is one of those hard to buy for people. When I started thinking about how much of a music buff he was, and how eclectic his taste was this book became the obvious choice.Of course I took a quick peek through it before I wrapped. I have to say I will be buying a copy for myself! There are some posters that are removable for framing and display but I think I will leave my book whole. It's great to see posters from small to large venue shows.Don't know what else to say, if you are a music fan of any genre this book is definitely for you!

Awesome inspiring book!
I bought this book for my boyfriend who is an aspiring graphic designer, he is really into these kinds of books. This book has an amazing compilation of gig posters and each one keeps you interested for what will be on the next page. When I gave it to my boyfriend he looked through the book thoroughly and must have post-it noted ever page! I really recommend this book to anyone who is interested in these types of things or to anyone who is a designer looking for inspiration.

He loved it!
My boyfriend (and pretty much everyone I showed this too before i gifted it) loved this book! It's bigger than I expected, but that's good because of the fact that you can take the posters out and hang them up (like my boyfriend is intending to do). All of the even pages have a full color gig poster that is each beautiful and the artist's comments about their work on the page opposite it are really interesting and fun! I loved this book and so did he!

Some classic show posters
If you're a lover of music and in particular american indie then i'm sure you'll love this book.Lots of great rare and unusual posters which just go to show how much of a shame it is that the gig poster seems to be dying out.The pages themselves are about A4 sized and come on perforated pages which make it easy to rip out any poster you wish to hang.I have a few round my house and i could've picked loads. The only shame is that by ripping pages out i'm left with less to leaf through when i pick up the book for a quick peruse.

Fantastic.
Great book with full colour, well printed posters on each page - which you can tear out, should you wish to do so, with marked out score lines for a neat trim!Such variety and skill displayed throughout this book! I bought it after one of my tutors showed me it! I had to have it!Definitely a great book for anyone to admire.

Great for the wall or the coffee table
I have now bought both volumes of this book and think it's an absolute bargain for the sheer quantity and quality of the artwork. The information about each artist is on a level and enjoyable to read. I cannot recommend it enough for anyone interested in either music or art - you won't be disappointed!

Amazing Value-for-money
I loved the first edition so much I immediately ordered the second and these definitely live up to the high standards it set. Great quality pieces of art printed on high-quality card. Would recommend to anyone looking to add some colour to their wall or even if you don't put them up, they're lovely to look at anyway :)
