The best
These sandals are the best shoes I've ever worn. I have bad knees, compromised hips and pronation. These sandals put my feet and my whole lower body stance in the perfect position. The reduction in pain and discomfort standing and walking is remarkable. I have worn Birkinstocks for years and like them but these Mephistos are significantly better for me. Better looking too.The strap structure holds the sandal onto my foot just as well as my Birkinstocks with a backstrap, but I can't understand exactly why. Perhaps it's because the footbed is so perfectly molded to the sole of my foot? I need to add that these sandals provide more cushioning than my Birkinstocks, yet it's firm cushioning. The suede lining of the foot bed is smooth and comfortable and I don't feel any strap chafing. Some other reviewers mention a bad smell, that hasn't happened for me.I only wish I could wear these at my supermarket job, but alas we are required to wear closed toe shoes. I wear these Mephistos from the moment my feet hit the ground in the morning until the moment I need to change into work shoes, then put them on again the minute I get home. I've had them for a month. Because they are not thongs like the comparable Mephistos in the Helen style, I will be able to wear these at home in the winter with socks.Bottom line; these have given me confidence walking I have not experienced for over a decade.

I had a pair of similar Mephistos that I wore for about 6 years, since I live in Florida where it's hot 8 months a year I wore them almost year round. They held up great and always looked good. I ordered these as a replacement. Very comfortable, fit just like my old ones, after a few days of wear they have molded to my feet perfectly. The leather is soft and high quality. I have had multiple surgeries on one foot and found Mephistos mold around the scar tissue areas well and are very comfortable. I use to be a Birkenstock person, but after owning Mephistos and seeing the decline in Birkenstock quality I will never go back to birks, these are by far better. Well worth the additional cost.

successful fabrication of a tried and true style
First off, I have been wearing Mephistos for over twenty years, mostly walking shoes and some sandals. I credit them for contributing to an absence of foot problems. The walking shoes I usually re-sole twice. Secondly, I have had the Hannel style for over five years. It's the shoe in which I pad around the house. One can just step into them without bending over.The previous Hannel model was in Nubuck, which, because I wore it in the kitchen, got a lot of cooking stains. Recently when I was packing for a trip, I noticed they were looking a little seedy. Consequently I bought this pair fabricated in a beigy-pearly (not cheesey however) patent. I had concerns that the patent might be a bit unpliable but it was not. Further I found that I could tighten the straps such that if I were walking fast (as in outside the house) I would not have to "grip" the shoes with my toes, because the sandal stayed close to my foot.I am so pleased with this fabrication that I bought a second pair to keep on hand, lest they don't reissue this fabrication.

I have a pair that is softer already.
I purchased these shoes because they were a different color of a pair I already have and love. However, these are apparently made by someone else or of some different material than the ones I own. They are so stiff and rough I couldn't wear them more than a couple of minutes before I had to take them off.I am very disappointed. I had hoped to have 2 pair one light, one dark but that isn't going to happen.The pair I have has made my life so much better because I have dancer's toe and resulting arthritis in my left foot. I have been miserable for 4 years, spent a fortune at the foot doctor and this pair of shoes is the first thing that has made any difference for me. They are the ones I go to every evening when I come home from work to make my foot feel better.So very disappointed to not be able to have and wear another pair.

Color not as advertised
My review is based off a few different things.Overall: cute style, accurate sizing, fairly comfortable. Hugs my foot. Sole is very stiff.The color is not as advertised. Ordered the dark brown and this looks more like a light brown.Worth the price? Definitely not. Based on the inaccuracies of the color and the price, I may return these.
