FisherSpace Pen - Pink M4PK/CT - Chrome Clip - Cap-O-Matic - Gift Boxed

Slick, good looking, unvarnished natural brass, with usual smooth Fisher Space Pen action
Nicely made piece with natural brass luster. (see photo) Other metallic cap-o-matic pens, at half this price, have brass or chrome plated and varnished tops, and plastic lower body, When polished brass with varnish ages, it gets unsightly pits and dark oxide patches, depending what the base metal is, and the durability of the varnish. All varnishes age poorly. This pen, in contrast, has class, as it is an alloy of tin and copper that makes for a lustrous finish, looking more like gold than brass. Good weight, also, and the usual smooth ballpoint performance of the Fisher SPR4 medium refill that comes with it. Whole pen body is sheet brass, no coating, no varnish, so over time, finish will darken and blotch to a pleasing patina, due to handling and exposure to the elements. For those who want a shiny pen, an occasional quick buffing with rouge will give a high polish. Body screws together with male brass threads nesting into a black plastic female socket, and disassembly action is very smooth. Clip appears sturdy, is chrome plated spring steel, and tip trim ring is chromed brass.

Great pen. Nothing fancy, it's just that good.
I have quite a few pens that are compatible with the space pen cartridges, but I prefer this design. What is it that makes it so special? Well, I'll argue that what makes this pen so great is what it isn't.1. It isn't a fisher bullet pen. At much as I love the compact streamlined design of the bullet type, I also hate it because it's small and has no clip so it gets lost easily.2. It's not some GI Joe "tacti-cool" pen garbage. Worst cool kid trend since the yo-yo and the fidget spinner. Seems like every joker with $25 bucks and no self control has one. They're heavy, they have large clips that get caught on things and bend out of shape, many have screw on caps that just make no sense at all, and their full of useless features like bottle openers and pressure point tips (as if stabbing someone with a pen would be hard without it.)What makes this pen great is that it's light weight but durable. I don't have to unscrew it to use it. It has a low profile clip that doesn't get caught on anything or bent. And it writes well. Best pen for the outdoorsmen, soldier, sailor, student. It's just a good all around pen.I recommend the fine point refills, the medium points are a little too bold for most of my uses.

Awesome EDC pen!!
This pen acquired a patina quickly and beautifully. The writing, like most Fisher pens is fantastic. This is now my new EDC pen, I love it!!!!

They'd be great if the cap didn't stick all the time.
Your browser does not support HTML5 video. I have about four of these Fisher cap-o-matic pens because I love the size, color, and overall design of them. However, 3 of the 4 of them have a clicker that gets stuck constantly. I can't tell if this is just from a bad batch or something, or if that is an issue with this entire model... I don't know what the warranty period is, but I'd love to exchange them for working pens. Like I said, I would have otherwise rated this 5 stars.

Worth the money.
I'll try to be as direct as possible.1. Does it write well?It certainly does. If you're running into skipping problems, press a little harder. That seems to fix that issue.2. Does it leak?If the nib gets pressed into your pocket, absolutely.3. Is there a way to circumvent the leaking? Not that I've found. Other than checking it periodically to make sure that the nib is still retracted. The clip is ridiculously tight, so it's not very practical to use every time, but you can rest assured that if you do clip it to your pocket, it's not gonna go anywhere. When I got it, the clip was stuck to the body of the pen with a bit of paint, but it didn't chip or mar the paint upon unsticking it.Is it the best pen I've ever used? No. It's not the smoothest writing implement, but it works. When you need to write something, it writes the first time. That's why I carry it.I haven't had the problem of the cap sticking when trying to click it, but my guess is the paint is a little too thick on the barrel under the cap. If you're having that issue, maybe try unscrewing the cap and sanding it a little.Hopefully this helps!

The cap-o-matic mechanism seems cheap and almost like a knock-off after the sturdy feel of the plastic ...
I got this pen for an upcoming writing project I'll be working on this fall. While it is indisputably brass (it was already a little discolored from patina when I got it, no issues there), my one problem with this pen is that it isn't very 'clicky'. The cap-o-matic mechanism seems cheap and almost like a knock-off after the sturdy feel of the plastic space pen I purchased from this company several years ago. And yes, I did actually check to verify that it wasn't actually a knockoff. I don't know if I just got a bad pen or if they're all like this, but I am less than thrilled with the seemingly poor quality of the clicking mechanism. That's really my only issue with it though. Writes well and looks absolutely stunning.

Unique, interesting version of space pen
Starts golden, becomes tarnished brass in weeks. Darker and more even tone than I expected - in a good way. Definitely different. Thought I’d share pictures since they speak louder than words. Click mechanism is soft but fine, pen is usual awesome, only downside is copper penny smell on fingers. But Raw brass is also anti-microbial. May not be your main pen, but will be one of the more unique Ones, with personality. And you can always repolish.....It will always do what it naturally does.

The first pen you reach for.
I've had a more "spacey" looking Fisher Space Pen before so this one doesn't stand out as something unique. Of course the pen is unique in that it will write anywhere, smoothly, uniformly and blotch free. The pen is glossy piano black and the ink in mine is also black, as expected.I seem to be constantly filling in forms and as forms can vary so much in paper quality, glossy finish, too soft etc then this is always the pen I reach for. The best recent example I can think of is having to sign the signature strip on a credit card. This pen worked first time and wrote evenly from start to finish, something the designers of credit cards seem to try and prevent you doing! The pen is a simple push down/push up mechanism, not twisting. There is a very subtle small engraving on the pen clip with the Fisher globe logo that actually looks like Saturn with its rings. In block capitals below that is the word "SPACE" running vertically down the pen clip. I have tried to capture this in a submitted photo of the pen.Once you've used these pens you'll probably appreciate their superiority over all other ball point pens. I think they'll make a great gift to any form filler you might know.

A great pen you can rely on
I love Fisher Space Pens. I switched to the Clip-O-Matic from the bullet type as I kept losing them Haven't lost one of these so the spare is still in the drawer. Worth noting that these pens are very slim, and some may not find them completely comfortable to hold. However, the Fisher ink and pressurised cartridge technology are as good as ever.

Writes anywher anyhow
Brilliant for writing in damp conditions and in any position. Feels comfortable, I use it to mark my target records when shooting and how often does it rain in the UK. Does not matter any more as this pen works.

Would buy again
Great pen writes on glossy surfaces but design would be better with a wider more robust clip
