Crabworx Water Dish

I bought this to replace a smaller hermit crab dish that had cracked. It's a good size, doesn't leak, and our crabs can be seen doing their thing in there from time to time. I don't speak hermit crab, but I gather they are fond of it.

I got this bowl because it is specifically designed for hermit crabs and because I like the natural color. I've been using it for my fresh water bowl. I can't say I'm super pleased with this bowl. It gets very slimy, very quick. When I try to wash it with hot water each day (no soap) it never seems to get clean enough. The interior paint is even starting to wear off. I have not had this problem with the  Zoo Med Hermit Crab Bright Bowl, Red . I use the red bowls for my salt water and for fresh food at night.This bowl is a little deep for smaller hermies. I watched one of my little guys fall in and he immediately curled up in his shell. He was almost completely submerged. I put a flat shell in to make sure no one drowns.

This water dish works well for the salt water for the crabs. It's has good depth to dip them in. I have a few problems though. The ramp isn't very big and they have a hard time using it and they fall off a lot of times when they get out. I don't think they will get hurt but I doubt they like it much.

I bought 2 of these to hold water for my hermit crabs on April 7th. It's now May 20th and one of them is leaking from the bottom. This seems to be a struggle with water bowls and my tank. Now I am onto the 3rd brand hoping this one doesn't leak as well.

We have bigger hermit crabs that tend to tip over lighter water dishes, but they haven't been able to tip over this one. We put a sponge in the middle so that any smaller crabs won't get in too much water for them. It is big enough to not have to refill every day (usually every other day, to keep the water fresh).

Nice water dish. Perfect size for the hermit crabs.
