Great outdoor camera.
Great outdoor camera. My only complains that it requires a different app to view on your phone from the regular indoor Yi brand cameras. So to use this and the indoor cameras, I have to use two separate apps. Other than that, great camera!

Good camera when used with their cloud-based security service
I bought several cameras like this, because I couldn't decide, just by shopping online. Usually, the size, weight and materials were not clearly described, so I had to get my hands on one to figure out if it was right for me. At $40, this is average-priced.My goal was to use this camera as a 'backup camera' and 'rear view' camera while towing my travel trailer, but also as a security camera, while in camp. This Powered By Yi unit is all metal, with a very sturdy mount. I felt it would have no issue mounting it as a backup/security camera on my RV. The IP66 rating was one step up from others that had IP65, and good enough, even when traveling at 65mph.The camera weighs 14 Oz, which is pretty light, with all metal materials. For mobile applications, I'd prefer a lighter-weight choice, particularly with all that jiggling up and down.To get connected with this camera, it was necessary to create an account wuth Yi IoT. This is mostly so they can offer the cloud-based storage service, which costs $8 to $11 per month. To installed the camera pretty easily, and the Yi software was very quick, setting up either with Ethernet or Wifi. The app makes it easy to view the video feed.I also tried to use it as a general-purpose IP camera with the Synology Diskstation NAS. That didn't work. It's not supported by Synology, and it also doesn't work with ONVIF compatibility, so Synology couldn't find the camera at all. And while the Yi-IoT app will tell you the camera's IP address, it was NOT possible to access it with a computer browser - only the mobile app could be used to view the video feed.I found that the Powered by Yi camera could be used by itself, but it is best suited for use with their paid cloud-based service. Too bad. Back to Amazon it goes. I really wish that all this was made clear in their listing, and that I didn't have to spend all that time to figure all this out.

These are not the cameras you are looking for.
Everything about the camera shows it works seamlessly with Yi. However, this is a third party camera the requires a separate Yi app and does not have the same features as the normal Yi app.If you're looking for a single provider solution and have standard Yi cameras, this it's not the camera you are looking for.

Buyer beware
There are a few issues with this camera that for the camera itself aren’t too bad. It didn’t seem to pick up all human activity. For instance, a police officer came to our door about someone who was parked in front of our house and it was reported by a neighbor. It didn’t pick that up. Very odd that it would be the police office of all people it would not detect.A pretty bothersome couple of issues is the lag time and the buffering time it takes to access footage. Also the app isn’t very user friendly. Which brings me to why I give this a 1 overall and maybe I should downgrade it to a zero because I essentially have a useless camera. My phone broke about a month or so ago and I had to purchase a new one. These cameras only allow for one main person but you can share the camera. When I attempted to sign into YI’s app and access the camera my camera is no where to be found. I can’t re-establish the camera because the serial number is already attached to an account (mine but still) and I’d have to have the box apparently to be able to do that which I didn’t know that I would need that in the future or I would have kept it because the only way to do all this is by letting your phone scan the barcode on the box. If there’s a work around I don’t know it. Which brings me to my next point. I’ve written the company 2 emails, several weeks apart. It’s been about a month now. I’ve not received even a “Hey, we are looking into this issue and we will get back to you.” Nothing! Don’t waste your money. YI obviously doesn’t provide technical support for their products. And one last poopy thing. We have 2 of the YI cameras because it was recommended to buy them together (an indoor and outdoor camera each), but we had to download 2 separate apps for them because they can’t work collectively on the same app. But wait! There’s more!!!! What this really means is if we want to pay for cloud service we have to pay twice as much because they can’t link the accounts. Save yourself the headache and don’t buy from this company.

Works well, but...
Easy to install and activate. Good quality images. Motion detection works fine but human detection less so. Bypassing cars would trigger it.Videos recorded can be stored on up to 128 GB MicroSD. The app works well without needing to subscribe to cloud service. The irritating part, if you do not subscribe often you have to view full screen ads before you get to your video including the motion detection notification videos. Frequency of this very irritating ads varies from day to day

Works ok, not what is advertised
The install doesn't go as the book says. it doesn't play that tune when it connects. HD video isn't working. This camera is all of 30ft from the router and HD video is terrible. SD works ok. I have not tested motion detection. Night vision seems ok but there isn't much to see where I have this camera placed. I wouldn't recommend to buy if you want 1080P HD video. Every 5 seconds it has to update also so you see the spinning circle for a second.

It's ok
During the day the camera quality looks great, at night its grainy. It worked great for the first month but the first time I lost power and it stopped working. I returned this camera for a different brand.

Great camera, horrible app
Great camera, horrible app. No settings for motion detection area like previous YI cameras. This means that every car that drives by my house sets off the detection and alerts me for false notifications.
