Great overview on leadership
Lots of the meat of his books rolled into a quick read right here. Maxwell never misses the mark. I highly recommend this one!

John Maxwell-King of Leadership!
I ordered this for a leadership course and wow. Maxwell keys in on the specifics of what leadership is and how leadership develops. Knowing the steps to developing leadership (and there are steps!) is something too many managers in leadership positions are missing. This is a clear and easy to read book that is motivating in design and helps strengthen people in leadership positions!

Good Wisdom
I would have liked more Bible verses, considering this was authored by pastor. It's still a good source of wisdom on how to lead none the less.

Maxwell Brings Interest to Self-Help
After reading Maxwell's Success 101 and Attitude 101, Leadership 101 offered final advice on how to grow into a good leader. Maxwell offers his advice in an upbeat, friendly way, and he is sure to offer anecdotes for encouragement along the way. I hold a leadership position at work right now; I am the head intern. I am in charge of a group of four interns who turn to me for advice, both personal and professional, but I wondered why my leadership skills went unnoticed by them. I found that Part 2 of the book, The Traits of a Leader, was the most beneficial section for me. It helped me recognize the leadership qualities I was lacking. In this section, I benefitted from the advice on how to prioritize my life, and how to develop trust in my work relationships. It turns out that the reason many of my interns did not follow me as their leader is because I was not prioritizing their duties and I did not trust them to do a good enough job. Once I applied these concepts to my job, I saw a significant change in the way my interns were reacting to me. While I do not expect to use all of Maxwell's ideas, he breaks them down into ideas that can be personally conceived. I found myself applying his ideas and suggestions to my life, and in a self-help book, there is nothing better than being able to apply the guidelines to my own life. Throughout all three of Maxwell's books that I read, I did not feel patronized or like I was being talked down to. I was able to understand what he wanted me to do because he used plenty of personal examples. If you are interested in ways to apply leadership in your career or your life, this book will give you good insight into how that should be done.

A good starting point for developing leadership skills
I wanted to find a concise, applicable, no non-sense approach to leadership skills. After several disappointing finds, I chose this book. Within the first chapter, it appeared that Maxwell’s approach fit these requirements. The rest of the book followed suit without disappointment. In his book, Maxwell (2002) discusses the importance of developing leadership skills and how those skills can impact the many facets of one’s life. While each of us may begin and end at different points on the leadership development scale, he believes we each possess the ability to improve our leadership skills. Maxwell discusses the various traits of an effective leader and how this can influence one’s work and life. Maxwell provides a clear approach to building leadership skills. He stresses the importance of these skills in work and everyday life. His suggestions are concise, yet inclusive enough to provide enriching ideas for even the seasoned leader. Maxwell has a clear writing style that allows the busy professional to put the book down and pick it up without losing direction.

Solid Advice
This is a review of the audiobook. The 2 CD set is a relatively easy and interesting listen, with solid principles and anecdotes that bring leadership to light and life. The author, a long serving pastor, brings both a humanity and a social perspective to bear that is sometimes absent in those books written by or recorded by the typical Fortune 500 executive. His focus on the principles of influence, integrity, attitude, vision, problem solving and discipline transcend corporate leadership to leadership generally. While general and "feel good" in approach, the audiobook contains some actionable elements, and at the price point is tough to beat.

Useful advice with exception of added Christian views
Maxwell does cover some helpful qualities of leadership and steps to becoming a more effective leader. However, I did not appreciate at all the references to God and church and mainly Christian ideologies. He says at one point that ultimate greatness does not come within but instead can and only comes from God which is completely an opinionated statement and has no right in being in a book about leadership. Granted the publisher is Christian Audio which I must admit I did not realize until after I purchased the book. Had I realized before I probably would have never bought it. Nonetheless, the title of the book is Leadership 101: What every leader needs to know. No where in that title does it says based on religious preference or according to God fearing Christians. In my opinion after he made religious references that where clearly one sided it discredited the book and author greatly.Nonetheless, if you can ignore the religious none sense and God references then the rest is appreciable.

A Bizarre Rip-off
Just applied to return thus Kindle book. Got 15% through this tiny book and wondered why every page felt like I had read it before. That's because I had. Its exactly the same text the author put in his very good Developing The Leader Within book. I feel this is at best outrageous as and at worst a straight time waster - books can be returned.Buy his other book. Its better. Although I am annoyed with the publisher sand author four wasting my time.

Interesting and entertaining
I am not a leader but I bought this audio book because I find the subject interesting. We all lead at least ourselves. The stories in the book reveal the qualities required in a leader. This study is impressive and I appreciate the palpability produced out of an area which is otherwise not a very tangible one. It make a perfect driving companionship as the recording is very clear without any intrusive musical background. I also do not mind the american accent. The tone of Sean Runnette voice is nice. It amused at times when, I thought he was going to end and start a new phrase singing. A good product for a very good price.

Can't go wrong with this
Once again - excellent teaching from John Maxwell. His practical lessons in life, how to get the best out of our relationships and how to be successful in leadership are just what is needed in our world today. Firmly grounded in the wisdom of God's Word - without being 'preachy' - I know 2 men who are not Christians but listen to his teaching over and over again.

Worth reading
This was a quick overview of the laws of leadership. A good reminder of laws, practices and attitudes required to make a positive impact as a leader and leave a befitting legacy.I've read it many times and glad I've just read it again. A good refresh anytime.
