Rebranding one of highest forms of flattery
Let me start off by stating I got these as an Amazon Warehouse Deal, and not at regular price. They arrived in perfect brand new condition at an approx 35% savings. Second, I really wanted a good pair of needle nose locking pliers. I own a fair amount of locking pliers - from older USA made Vise Grips and rubber-gripped Craftsman, to Chinese made Kobalts, to German made Knipex locking pliers, but I did not own any larger needle nose style locking pliers. These Spanish made needle nose locking pliers therefore, fit the bill. So, let me state that one reason I ended up going with the Grip On at their relatively higher (but still very reasonable for a good tool) price is a review I found online from Wirecutter magazine. I'd recommend reading it prior to making a final decision, but it was amongst the best reviews I could find for locking pliers, and the reviewers rated the Grip On locking pliers above all of the other competition - and they reviewed quite a few of the competitors. One of the reviewers noted that the Grip On pliers were the best locking pliers he had ever used in 15 years with an outstanding build quality and the smoothest unlocking mechanism he had ever used. I, personally, have to agree. I, also, personally, have had Vise Grip style pliers go "flying" on me after a high tension release. The way these Grip On pliers are designed, the release is smooth and you can release them with one hand by pushing DOWN on the release lever rather than pushing up as on the old Vise Grip style pliers. Also, the orange and black looks awesome, and reminds me a bit of the Spanish-made orange and black Orbea Orca carbon fiber bike that won "bike of the year" a number of years ago - it's a very cool aesthetic vs the typically bland locking pliers. Finally, as my title suggests, rebranding is one of the highest forms of flattery. When a manufacturer has a very good and well-priced specialty product, you'll often find other manufacturers that don't wish the cost of having to tool a factory to make a similar product, simply rebrand the product under their own name. Kenmore was famous for doing this. That said, both Snap-on and Proto, two of the highest quality US tool brands, use rebrand Grip On pliers and sell them as their owns. An interesting note, though, I noticed that the Snap On retail price for the Grip On pliers was only about twenty eight dollars (before shipping), but if you can get a pair off of a Snap On tool truck at that price, or less, then it might be worth it for Snap On's lifetime warranty. I'm not sure if they are lifetime warrantied by Proto, but the Proto's were priced in the thirty dollar range - so they were substantially more expensive. Your call, but clearly, the Grip On design is a winner, and I highly recommend them if you're willing to spend a bit more than the bargain cost pliers you'll find at some of the big box hardware stores.

The pliers to purchase first
I’m gradually replacing my husband’s hand tools. His tools range from so-so to not very good, even though they are name brands. These pliers are superb..easy to use..lock snuggly..release when you want them to release.I suggest you save yourself some money and buy these pliers first. Don’t buy the cheap junk first and then replace them.

I'm a convert!
I have become a big fan of the Grip-On line of locking pliers. I have the standard version as well as these with a long nose. Both work great, much better than the vise grip style in my opinion. They are much easier to unlock, and have a very nice quality feel that makes them a pleasure to use. Not sure how the orange and black finish will hold up, but it makes them pretty easy to find in the tool drawer!

Completely disappointed and immediately returned
Was very exited to get these after reading other reviews, but upon receiving, noticed the jaws were not only loose, but misaligned to the point that they were not even parallel to each other. Completely disappointed and immediately returned. 👎🏻

best vice grips ever
The picture might be wrong bit look at the part number and make sure it's what you want! 6 inch long nose, they are epoxy orange. These ride in my front pocket most of the time, very handy. These are the best pliers I have ever used, I prefer the black point instead of Snap-ons nickel plating. The ergonomics are much better than Chinese Vicegrips. I can't wait to get more now.

Nice, but not beautifully finished
Good:- The joints are tight.- The jaws meet right at the tip.- The lock release is smooth, and doesn't pop open and possibly jump out of your hand or rap a knuckle.- The black finish on the jaws is less likely to flake off like nickel-plating.- The orange-painted handles are bright and easy to spot.- They aren't made in China, if that matters.Bad:- They aren't made in the US either, if that matters. They are made in Spain.- The orange paint will eventually wear off. Indeed, there were a few nicks in the paint right out of the box. Epoxy paint is tough though, and supposedly spatter-resistant (if you use them for welding.)- The black is not an oxide finish, but just glossy black paint.- Not quite as well made as I would expect for the price. These are small pliers. For $25 I'd expect perhaps not flawless fit and finish, but certainly very good. More on that below. So the first pair I bought opened and closed smoothly, and locking was great. But the tips of the jaws were slightly misaligned left to right, not enough to really affect their performance, probably, but still noticeable. I hemmed and hawed, and finally decided I wouldn't ever be really happy with them. So I returned them.On the second pair is better, the FRONTS of the jaws are slightly off, as if the tool has a minor underbite. If I ever tried to pick up small nails, the underbite might get in the way. So not huge, but again, noticeable. And I am haunted by my memory of my original Vise-Grips, where the jaws had been machined post-assembly, so the fronts of the jaws met perfectly. But unlike the left-right misalignment, this kind of flaw can be fixed with a few seconds on a bench grinder, or even Dremel tool. But also, the joints in the second pair were slightly sticky, enough to stick the jaws closed against the force of the spring. I worked the joints vigorously, and applied some teflon oil, and they seem to be loosening up somewhat.Lastly, the glossy black and orange paint brings out all the little flaws in forging and grinding. The jaws have many tiny nicks and scratches, as if the bare metal parts had been tumbled together without regard for the finish.Mind you, none of these flaws affect their use (except perhaps the MINOR jaw misalignment). But they do affect how I feel about the tool. Maybe I am comparing them unfairly to some Victorinox, Knipex and Mora tools I bought recently. There are some tools that are so well designed and beautifully made that I give them away as presents to tool enthusiasts, because those tools are the kind of thing such people would enjoy but not buy for themselves. Knipex hybrid pliers/wrenches are one such. I won't do that with Grip-Ons, I think. They are good enough for me, but not for my friends. :-)

cool.
This is a good pair of locking pliers. You do not pinch your fingers while unlocking. quality tool, but it should be available for less price. I would replace all my locking pliers with grip-ons, but they charge a little to much. How about a price break Amazon?

These are incredibly useful pliers and grip really tightly
These are incredibly useful pliers and grip really tightly. The release lever is way better than the one on the original Vise-Grip brand pliers.
