Bridges! Amazing Structures (Kaleidoscope Kids)

Awesome STEM project book
I reviewed it in the context of SciOly. This book is the 'year before your kid wants to do the SciOly bridge competition book'. Has broader, freer, and more interesting projects to create interest - also the recipe for cement, which still has my interest!.

I love this book
I love this book. I am a new STEM teacher and I was given STEM curriculum on bridging that cost the school thousands of dollars. I learned more and used more lesson in this $12 book. It has fun interactive ways to teach kids about bridging. Incorporates active play, crafts, history and bridge building techniques. I also liked that it talked about what engineers need to think about with design as well as what can go wrong over time and how to plan for that. Very informative!

Essential
Your child can do these projects.Kaleidoscope books are dynamite, because not only do they have science very clearly explained in the text, they also have LOADS of hands-on projects for your child to make (and this is important) with VERY LITTLE HELP from parents. My 3rd grader made a truss bridge from directions in this book on the very first day we had it -- he put it to use immediately in little brother's train layout. ** see photo in customer images. This would be great for science fair projects. Don't wait until junior high -- let your kids get a jump on learning about loads and stresses. Excellent, fun learning.

Grandson loves it!
Bought this as a gift for my 7 year old grandson and he loves it. He read it from cover to cover and frequently talks about building bridges. The book clearly sparked his imagination.

Great intro into Bridge Constructions
This book is great- Good explanations on the building and design of bridges. I am using it in a homeschool co-op for activities for our group of kids. I saw it when I want to purchase The Art of Construction: Projects and Principles for Beginning Engineers & Architects by Mario Salvadori which is an awsome book but not for a 1st grader. This book is well thought out and fun. I hope to pick up some of the other books in the series.

Not Just a Good Bridge Book, a Good Engineering Book
We got this book for our eleven-year-old son; he devoured it. It's really an amazing little book. We've all learned a lot from it, quite honestly, and I really think that this one book may propel him into some future in civil engineering, so much does he love it. He's had it for months now, and is still using it as a reference.

Great teaching resource
I was doing a project on bridges with a year 4 class. This book gave me lots of info and activities, which enabled the children to make the different types of bridges. Clear instructions presented well for the children. Great ideas for cross curricular links as well. Suitable for KS2 and upwards. Delivery as always was prompt within a couple of days of ordering.

Buildijg Bridges
A lovely book, a bit technical in places, but a good resource for teachers. The children liked some of the pages and were able to learn from some of the facts. It gave us some good ideas for building our own bridges.

daddy used it to build the bridge.
This book helped my husband to build a suspension bridge and to explain to my children how it works, and why you need to design it in such as way. Clearly written.
