Sweet But Not Sappy
The boy builds a boat himself, out of bits and pieces any boy should have available. The boat has adventures, some scary, but ends up back with the boy who allows him to keep having adventures. I like the message. The language is straightforward and the illustrations vivid, with nice movement and color. All in all a good present for a child in a sailing family, like the one who received it from me.

Sweet Story...The Velveteen Rabbit for little boys!
I purchased this book for my little boy for his first christmas. I remember reading somewhere that it was considered the Velveteen Rabbit for little boys. I LOVED the Velveteen Rabbit, so of course needed to get this book for my little boy. He's now 2 1/2 and loves having me read stories to him. Every night he asks me to read this book to him. "Toy Boat" he requests again and again. It is a sweet story. Having a husband who grew up sailing, it has special meaning to us as one day I hope that my son grows up and enjoys the water and wonderment of sailing too.

My kids love this story and illustrations!
I bought this book to put on a shelf for décor in my son's nursery and not knowing to much about the storyline, but it's one of my kids' favorites. My 1 year old loves the "move along!" parts and my almost 4 year old loves the story. The illustrations are gorgeous and hold the interest of both my children.

One of the few board books I've found with a decent amount of text to read: not so much that you lose attention, but enough that you're not picking up a new book after 90 seconds.

toy boat
A very sweetly written book with beautiful illustrations about a boy who looses his toy boat ( made of a tin can, a cork, a pencil and a piece of cloth for the sail) and then is delighted to have it return to him. The preschoolers that I work with loved this book. We made our own toy boats after reading it.

This is a good book with good illustrations
This is a good book with good illustrations. Be warned, it's a bit longer so kids need to have a longer attention span!

Great Adventure Story
My 18month old loves this story because of the beautiful illustrations. I love it because the story follows a little toy boat's adventures into the open seas. The boat discovers his own personal strength and courage as he tries to make it home again.

I like the book a lot
This is a real PSHE book about leaving home and becoming independent.I bought it for my Year 1 class but the subtleties would go over their heads.I like the book a lot, but the small, board book format seems to be aimed at a younger audience than the story.Difficult to say who the target audience would be.

A lovely story with beautiful illustrations
A lovely story with beautiful illustrations. I read it to my class of 5 year-old and they became very involved in the emotional side of the story, feeling worried for the little boat!

This is a favourite book of my 2 year old
This is a favourite book of my 2 year old. Interesting story and nice illustrations. A story with a climax that kept my son still and interested. Just enough language on each page for his growing attention span. Helped with his vocabulary. A sweet story.
