I tutor a student who is not fond of reading due to his lack of sight words recognition. I read the Henry and Judge series to him after our sessions and he really enjoys them. I ordered the Puppy Mudge series and have him read them to me, after I have reviewed the sight words in the book. He had 80% success so I had him write his name in the book and gave it to him. He was excited and looking forward to getting more books. Success!

These are perfect for my 6 year who is just now reading but wants to be reading like his twin sister who is whizzing through the regular Mudge books. Almost brought me to tears when I opened the first book. They are every bit as satisfying and precious as other Mudge books (for you Mudge fans) but great for beginning readers. These will definitely be an asset when I return to the classroom! They are made up of sight words, cvc words, and familiar words that are repeated from story to story - Henry, Mudge, Cracker, that make any reader feel successful. The length is very manageable for emergent readers. I cannot say enough good things about these books. I hope they make more.

Endearing Puppy Mudge stories written with beginning readers in mind, but makes a good read aloud, too! Large print, funny identifiable puppy situations, limited to sight-word vocabulary, delightful illustrations!

My 6 yr old going into first grade read these in a minute. Very easy to read. More for early kindergartners.

These are some cute little stories. My 2 year old is already obsessed with mudge the puppy. This set is perfect for emergent readers. Only reason I took off a star is because my set came mixed with 1 level 2 book.

I teach second grade and have all of the Henry and Mudge books. But there are always those sweet babies that need to read a little lower and these books are perfect for them.

Great books for an early reader - my son is 7 and reading slightly below grade level (Grade 1), we've found great success with these. They are simple (easier then some other "I Can Read" books we've purchased) and engaging - he loves them!

My 6yr old son and I have thoroughly enjoyed reading these books. Mudge is a loveable character that all 3 of my children adore. These are great beginning reader books, that we still go back to to enjoy with his younger siblings.
