Impressive tape measure, but two necessary improvements would make it perfect
Lot of things to like about this Tacklife MDT01 digital tape measure. Seems to be well made, impressively accurate with numerous thoughful features, including USB charging, autolock (tape automatically stays extended until you push button to retract), zero-setting claw, ability to hold current measurement and save up to 10. Over the last year, I've been gradually adopting metric in my carpentry and woodworking -- the ability of this tape measure to convert a measurement between fractional and metric on the fly is wonderful. Can't find fault with the various digital features, including re-zero, center and relative calculation at the push of a button. Perhaps the best feature is the ability is determine inside measurement with a high degree of accuracy -- simply place back end of case against one surface and extend the tape to touch the opposite surface. The case is 3-1/4 wide so when using this digital tape measure's inside "reference plane", the device automatically determines how much tape is extended and appends 3.25" -- glance at the display and you've got your total internal distance, no mathematics required (as in: how much is 3-1/4" plus 11-9/16"?)In contrast, this product's biggest weakness -- and it's not a small problem -- is the "other" reference plane, i.e., determing the distance from the claw to the front of the case. Sure, you could just read the tape, and you pretty much have to . . . because the digital display is practically worthless in this situation, which is also the most common way of using a tape measure. Why? Because the leading "edge" of the case, into which the tape retracts, is not really an "edge", but instead of a rounded corner, and the tape entrance/exit is recessed. Where do you put your pencil to mark the workpiece? What part of the case corresponds to the reading on the digital display? So this is really a pretty impressive tape measure, but two necessary improvements would make it perfect: (1) it needs a clear, straight reference on the leading edge indicating where to make a pencil mark on the workpiece. Even better -- more perfect -- would be a built-in scribing point like those on the bottom of the Hultafors Talmeter tapes. (I'm tempted to try fabricating something for this Tacklife digital tape measure that would approximate the Hultafors marking point). (2) I've pretty come to the opinion that all Imperial/American system tape measures should be marked with fractions, following the example of the Lufkin Quickread QRL625, Lufkin L725SCTMP, Craftsman Sidewinder SG_B06XQGPY17_US, etc. After 40 years of carpentry, I'm done trying to figure out / remember whether the line I'm staring at is 3/16, 5/16, or 3/8". Drives me a little nuts that this Tacklife measure shows fractions on the display, but not on the tape itself. I note that one Tacklife's other tape measures, TM-L01 does have a fractional scale. They should use that tape on this digital MDT01. (And, of course, if this tape measure had a clear front reference edge, there'd be less need for a fractional scale on the tape because the digital readout would give you the info you need.)UPDATE: 2/5/20 Upper half of the digital display stopped working after the tape measure fell three feet from workbench to a wood floor. Returned and replaced by Amazon, but really what good is a tape measure that can't survice a 3-foot drop on the jobsite? We'll see if this was an abberation. If it happens again to the replacement, I'll update this review again and drastically reduce the rating. Fingers crossed.

Very accurate digital display, easy to read and has the best tape lock ever.
I needed a smaller tape for around the house, and I found one of my favorite brands and it was just the right size to. First off, I dropped it taking off my belt, thinking it was a goner. However, the tape measurer has a nice rubber shell so when I dropped it, it had zero damage...very nice. The digital display is right on with the tape. The lighted display can change formats, inches, cm, fractional, and decimal...which in that, is just awesome...where I love the fraction part. Display is also easy to read, has the function to either measure from the front or the back of the measuring tape. Nice option where finally getting an exact measurement from the back line. Tape is high quality, bends and goes back into shape perfectly and can stay that way with some length too. No cons, just exactly what I was looking for where I am very happy with the purchase.

Very Useful!
I LOVE THIS! With the pandemic going on and spending more time at home, I’ve been finding projects to do around the house. With building stuff, sometimes I need an exact measurement of sometimes in order to make it work and I messed up in a few projects where the measurements are a little off and I had to start over. This tape measure is EXACTLY what I need for these projects. Granted that this one is much heavier than a regular tape but it makes sense since it has a battery inside. Its weight doesn’t really bother me but it would be a con if I really have to point out one.

Needed for home project
I needed a new Measuring Tape and I wanted one that was really wide so I could extend it out a great distance for measuring when I had no helper. I came across this 2 in 1 Digital Laser Tape Measure and was intrigued. A Laser measure that is accurate? And goes over 100 feet? I had to try it. It works just as advertised. You just point the red laser dot on something you need to measure and almost instantly you get a reading down to fractions of an inch. It measures what I have always called an "inside measure" meaning you place the back of the Measure against one surface, then aim the dot and press the red button to measure. It works real well. Especially for longer measures.I also like that the display is backlit. That is so helpful. Another bonus is a standard measuring tape is included. Nice and smooth action with both Standard and Metric markings, on both sides. I am used to a tape you had to lock at your required distance to keep it from retracting. This one keeps a light brake on all the time, so it just stays where you pull it out. Then a button retracts the tape at any speed you want. Slight pressure and it comes back slowly, press it all the way and it comes back in a hurry. All in all I am very impressed. This is the "tape" I will use for all my jobs.
