These are awesome for younger kids--my 5-6 year old loves it. I will give you some advice, though. This is very much an outdoor project because of the mess it will make--fine powdery dust everywhere in the work area. It also takes quite a while on each one to finish, so well worth the investment. Just show the kiddos how real archaeologists work--slowly scrape, dig and brush away debris (not poke, stab and crush)--and they'll be at it for a long time.

If your child likes Dinosaurs - buy these! I got this after seeing a single box in the store. I was delighted to find a three pack for some variety. Thanks to the dad who did a video review of this I made purchase. I am so glad that I did!My 4 year old was able to dig with supervision and only occasional help. The dry clay comes away easily with the tools provided. She was thrilled when she found the first bone - all by herself! If possible do this activity outside as it is dusty. And protect any surface for easier clean up. Totally worth the mess in my opinion. A great fun project to do together. It took her a long weekend of excavating to get all the bones out. Then it was up to us to get them assembled. It really gave her a sense of the work that paleontologists actually do - as opposed to just reading about it or seeing it on Dinosaur Train.

I bought these for my son for Christmas but he ended up not doing them my niece did she love them said they were amazing and wanted me to get her more

I love it but not sure if my nephew understand it. He too busy playing with his action figure oh well I brought 3 and gave him one. I guess I keep the other two for myself lol.

Used in a small group K-classroom with small hammers and goggles (not the plastic hammer that was in this kit), kids loved "hammering away! I took a short video so show their enthusiasm. A bit expensive, but I knew the children would enjoy this after learning about dinosaurs!

Great grandson liked it as a gift.
