Great Book
Very suspenseful. The protagonist is a fascinating character.

More action than his typical novel.
Forsyth drops some of his characteristic deep background in favor of action. It is still smart, and definitely has plenty of twists and sweeping settings, but it is not the detailed travelogue his novels usually are. I chose to call it dark instead of suspenseful because of the path the plot takes - saying any more than that would be a spoiler. His books are not geared to happy endings so much as to a conclusion of the action. This one is a good example, with more accent on the action throughout.

Honest viewpoint of The Negotiator by Frederick Forsyth
Good plot that was well researched as one would expect from a master like Forsyth. I didn't like the phased out ending that left me wondering whether the Spanish solution for the lovers would cocntinue to be bliss. With such backgrounds of both, I would have preferred something else but I don't know what. The villians were a little unreal and rather quirky which doesn't reflect well on the selection or contacts of the American security services. But even with my inner critical thoughts, the master writer presented a good read backed by excellent research,

Forsyth is the best
Frederick Forsyth is a genius with a pen. This particular endeavor wouldn't be my favorite, even though it pursues kidnapping with a different twist, deeper plot than usual and a few surprises. Compared to other writers of this generation, Forsyth still ranks number 1 in my book. He knows history, he understands how people think, and he does impeccable homework, no matter what the subject.

Rather unbelievable, but fun
I like Forsyth's work very much, but this tale was rather far fetched in parts to put it mildly. He tells a good story though, you just need to leave your incredulity behind at times and just go with the flow! Not his best, but it won't put me off reading more of his novels, they always entertain.

A good story, and possible in a world where money ...
A good story, and possible in a world where money rules. Shoves that the enemy is not always abroad, but close to us and looks like us. The brain is a much better weapon than all the Glocks in the world. And harder to fight against.

Not what I expected, but arrived fast and in good condition.
This did arrive super fast, but nowhere in the description did it mention this was the abridged version ...it did not mention it was the unabridged version either. So, I would say I'm a bit dossapointed in the product, though it seems to be in exactly the condition I expected when purchasing.

A global yarn
Typical FF albeit a bit over the top in places. The beginning is quite boring bouncing between Russia and the US with too many characters. Then it gets into its stride with Quinn the Negotiator, who is just about expert at everything and a multi-linguist to boot, getting involved. As usual our hero is able to travel across the world and Europe with complete ease with plenty of fresh clothes, money and weapons, cutting a swathe through the bad guys. You need to suspend belief here but it is, in fact, quite an enjoyable romp. It’s a pretty long book though, and the list of characters was so long that by the time the last bad guy was revealed I’d forgotten who he was! Good entertainment though from a master of this genre.

As ever
Is there anywhere Mr. Forsyth hasn't been. His geographical research is extraordinary as it always is. Not to mention his in depth knowledge and research into world wide government`s numerous departments at all levels. This combined with superb plot and story telling surely makes him, still, the best writer in the world of the genre.

A terrific and compelling thriller.
Terrific. I picked up a few FF books recently as I need a page-turning novel on the go alongside non-fiction, and until Robert Harris writes a book every two weeks I'm having to look elsewhere. This was terrific - compelling and everything you'd want, even happily ticking a few of those thriller cliche boxes.Call me old fashioned, but I also like to hark back to the days of the Cold War, when it could all go bang in an instant, and we had a bundle of nasty little terrorist groups in Europe and beyond with strictly political aims. This also throws in a dash from the post-colonial wars that he's done so well in Dogs of War and beyond. They weren't necessarily nice times, but these aren't either, and I have the right to be nostalgic about what I remember from my early days.

The Negotiator
Well what can be said about this book other than absolutely brilliant! I could not put it down from the first page to the last and was bereft at the finish! There was a lot of information to carry in the first few chapters but once the plot and main story was established it was sheer genius, Frederick Forsyth at his truly best. Amazing insight into American, Russian and British politics and espionage.

Good read provided you like a technical slant.
I'm a fan of Forsyth, but also think he dwells too much on detail which detracts from the story line. Most of his work is like this. It's a good read though this, and absorbing. I like the idea of including a cast of characters, it's very helpful, wish more authors did it.I would have given the book a 5* if it had been a third shorter, and some of the detail removed or lessened.
