Very effective despite confusing company communication
The bottom line: the product works. Before giving this to my mother, I tested the transmitter from every room in the house including the basement and even submerged in hot water in an upstairs bathtub. Virtually every single time, the transmitter successfully signaled the dialer to call the emergency number and deliver my pre-recorded message. I like that the product is a one-time cost rather than a recurring monthly subscription; I like that it features a 9V battery backup in case of power outages; you do need a home telephone line to use this. The slightly negative element is that the company has lousy communication about pretty much everything. First, I ordered the Skylink ED-100 , but they sent me the Skylink AD-105 . It turns out that the ED-100 is obsolete. Second, they included instructions for the AD-100 instead of the AD-105; the AD-105 has an additional operating mode that completely messed me up because it's not mentioned in the AD-100 instructions. If you receive the wrong instructions, do an internet search for "AD-105 manual" to get the proper instructions. The information about the transmitters is confusing as well. I've spoken with the company, and they have confirmed that the PT-434 Boxy, Pendant-like Transmitter is WATERPROOF and can be taken into the bathtub and the swimming pool. The HW-434W Wristwatch-like Transmitter is only WATER RESISTANT and should NOT be taken into the bathtub/pool. In other words, since the user should basically wear this 24 hours a day, I highly recommend the PT-434 and not the HW-434W.The product should have been designed more cleanly: you plug power/phone lines into jacks located inside the casing instead of on the outside of the casing. And they should have included a small chain around the transmitter to make it easier to string into a necklace. If you can navigate through the poor communication, you will have a good product that will keep your elderly parents safe at a reasonable cost. If you need clarification, contact customer service through the Skylinkhome website.

It works, but not like their website says
Somewhat disappointed in this dialer - mostly because of Skylink's misleading website. The website says the dialer itself (which is an AD-105) has multiple zones and multiple messages that can be programmed. This is not the case. There is only one zone and one message. When using this as a stand alone security device to place a call whenever any sensor is tripped, you can only send one standard message. So you do not know what triggered it... was it a motion detector, a door sensor, a flood sensor??? In the end, it works for me, I just programmed a message to say an emergency exists at my address, but I wish Skylink would update their website with current, correct information. Also, the programming is rather tedious and non-user friendly. Also, there are no instructions included to tell you how to use the dialer with the sensors their website tells you that it works with. I was able to find those instructions on their website eventually and got everything working, but this was not an easy process. Forget about technical support - I tried calling two different times and both times I got an answering machine. I do not recommend this product.

For the price, it works great.
Works for me. I thought it was fairly easy to setup. The instructions are well written, but the main instruction manual didn't tell you how to delete a phone number. I had to look in the quick start guide for that. The range is ok - it works fine in our 2 story home, 3000sq ft. I also tested it in a detached garage, but I had to find a more central location in the house in order for the remote device to be detected from the external garage. For the price, I think it is fine. I suspect that the "professional" systems probably have greater range. There will be no problem in the house, but if my mother ventures to the far extremes of the yard, it might not work (> 100' from the house)As noted by someone else, the remote does not come with a lanyard.

Works well once programmed
My wife and I bought this for my Father-in-Law b/c he lives out of town. I hooked up the dialer at my house to program the numbers of family and record a message for him. Programming takes some time and you have to follow the directions carefully. I had a problem until I put in some pauses during the dialing process. When I took it to his house, I had to reprogram it b/c a 1 was required for long distance. After programming, I rotated the antenna up and out of the case, and tested it around his house. Worked in every room inside and also outside at the end of his driveway.Negatives: Speaker volume is low. Does not give feed back (dial tone / ringing) while dialing so hard to troubleshoot programming issues. Now, the problem is getting my Father-in-Law to carry the alert button with him!

Good quality. Reasonable price. My 90 year old mom is happy to have it installed in her house!
I purchased this Skylink Emergency Dialer/Pager Kit for my 90 year old mom. The security company in my mom's security patrolled area set it up and activated it in less than 1/2 hour. It's monitored at the security officers office nearby. The Security company officer suggested that I buy an extra Handheld Panic Button Remote which is the Skylink PT- 434w and put it near the shower area of the bathroom in case my mom fell while getting in and out of the shower. Since, she lives alone and wouldn't be wearing her original Panic Button into the shower, I thought this was a great suggestion! The kit doesn't include a chain for the remote. The hole on the remote is very small in circumference so it was difficult to put a chain of any size through it. We did find a thin circular metal keychain ring that fit through the hole allowing us to put the remote on a medium length gold necklace. Myself, and my brothers and sisters all feel very relieved and happy knowing our mom is being monitored by this Emergency system.

Not great but ok
Not great but ok. It works well at dialing the recorded phone numbers. The outgoing message starts to play before the person (or answering machine) answers so that can be confusing. This is why you have to let the message repreat itself at least 2-3 times otherwise the person at the other end has no clue if it plays only once and it started playing before they answered.I bought the big red watch button for my mother. She sometimes activate it by mistakes while sleeping. Not the end of the world but it is easier for her to use than the covered button one that comes with the unit.Quality is very basic. To me that should be much less expensive than what it is.

So far so good.
I have only just installed and tested the ED-100. It was easy to set up; I merely followed the instructions. It came with every thing to install it; a lanyard for the transmitter I bought from a dollar shop.
