The cable is not long enough

Update:I got this installed and noticed that after a few seconds the screen just shuts off. I’m not able to get the screen to stay on full time so I can see the activity at my front door. I also have not found out how to record or if this records as there was no instructions with this at all on how to wire or even use. I had to figure everything out on my own. Now the screen comes on when the doorbell is rung but that’s it. I can talk through this and the person on the other end can talk also. The volume can be adjusted. The screen doesn’t sit on the bracket that well either. There are 4 clips on the bracket that the screen slides down on but because the wires and how flat the bracket is the screen only sits down on one clip leaving the screen tilted to the side a little bit. One last thing. I noticed that each time the doorbell is rang it rings on both ends not just inside the house which is strange to me but I guess it allows the person to know they rang it and it’s working. Right now I’m just frustrated that there was no instructions with this and I’m sure this don’t record which was the sole purpose as to why I wanted it. And yes the screen is blurry just like what you see in my picture. I thought it would be more clear. It’s definitely not 1080 HD. The resolution is more like 720.No directions to guide me through the installation process. Luckily for me though I work industrial maintenance so I’m able to figure out things like this but for others you may find it complicated. What I can tell you is on the back of the monitor and video doorbell there is a sticker explaining the color code of the wiring and explaining what is what. There is a way to wire this to an existing door bell system and then there is a white cord that can be connected directly from the video doorbell to the monitor. I find that easiest since I don’t have an existing doorbell wired. All you would have toDo is drill a hole where this would be located. Place the video doorbell beside the door and from there a hole can be drilled and then the monitor can be mounted on the backside of that wall.Now as far as the monitor goes it does have a pretty good picture. It doesn’t seem to be 1080 HD but it’s pretty clear. The brightness and color definition can be adjusted on the side of the screen. The doorbell ringer has many different tones and is pretty loud. When rung there should be no problem at hearing it. I have t tried talking through this yet because all I have done is hooked it together to try most of the modes out. I haven’t installed this yet to be used. This has a memory card slot on the side of the monitor also soThat videos can be saved.I do find this to be a really nice video doorbell that has its place. With this day and age this is a great way to keep on eye on what’s going on outside of your home and to also see who is coming and going. I would definitely recommend this video doorbell.I hope that I was able to answer some of the questions you may have had about this video doorbell. I picked this up to install on my family members house; installation wasn't very fund and ultimately we decided to get a contractor to do it. Since it is wired it requires piping the wires through the wall, etc. Hopefully after this work the intercom ssytem lasts a long time.Unit seems sturdy and the screen is decent. However that means little about the long term quality of this unit.The fact that cat6 can be used is very cool because it makes wiring long distances easier between the camera and the intercom. However there is only one endpoint and the area around the door in most SFL homes is uusally concrete... which is not easy to drill through or run wires through.The 4 foot power cable is also annoying (for the intercom) because it basically means that without custom tapping wiring that the intercom will be in a weird place...All in all it works well when it is installed but it is definitely not "easy to install" at least not on SFL homes. Possibly it would be easy for some people who live up north and have wood frame homes.

The instructions could use a bit more detail, but at least the images are pretty decent. Installation isn't too terrible, just bare in mind this has to be hard-wired.One thing I wasn't too keen on was my other video doorbell button is made of metal, but this one is all plastic and has kind of a "cheap" feel to it. It works and all, but...10 years from now, who knows?I do like the nice big screen, and audio is passable. It apparently supports magnetic door locking and whatnot, but I don't possess any of those technologies so I can't really say how they work. But audio / video works pretty well. Doesn't record (if that's what you're after). Wish the outdoor parts were metal but...it is what it is.Solid 4 out of 5.
