Not for the cheese
A knife is good but I cannot recommend it for cutting cheese. It's simply made for something else.

DON'T LET THE FUN COLOR MISLEAD YOU -- KNIFE STAYS SERIOUSLY SHARP, even after 5 years!!
This knife has stayed very sharp after almost 5 years of use and is highly recommended!! This knife works well as a filet knife, for slicing chicken breasts into thinner pieces, trimming excess fat off steaks, and slicing fish. The serrated edge nearer the tip catches meat and it then glides through, cutting easily. It also works for slicing vegetables and other foods. The handle is quite comfortable. While this does not have the heft of a traditional knife, it does not feel flimsy and the handle is very comfortable. And it's so easy to clean; just put in the dishwasher (although the manufacturer recommends hand washing).I had initially purchased this (and a nearly completely set of these Pure Komachi knives) to keep my husband away from my "good" knives when he was making sandwiches, etc, and because I wanted inexpensive knives that I wouldn't feel guilty about running through the dishwasher -- but it turns out that I like "his" knives so much, I use them, too! When these knives first arrived, my husband called them "kiddie knives," because of the pretty colors, but be careful, because these are very sharp -- early on, I cut myself badly enough with the purple sandwich knife so that a Band-aid was inadequate and I needed Steristrips. My advice is to treat this knife as you would any super-sharp knife, because it is just as sharp as my professional quality-knives, even if it comes in a fun color and is not too expensive.

Quality Sharp Knife - Long Lasting.
I've had this knife for 6 years. It's seen some serious abuse in an all male household of clunky guys. And its one of the few items I carried with me when I moved in with my missus. Its survived minor falls off the kitchen counter (thankfully the tip never broke). And I've gifted about 5 of these till date to friends and family. And I own the Pure Komachi 2 Chef's knife, Santoku (my 2nd favorite), and the paring knife. The great:- Durable and high quality blade- The handle fits great in my hands as well as the wife's small hands.- The blade is super sharp!- It makes cutting vegetables fun!The good:- Easy to keep the blade sharp. I use the cheap https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CQTLJM/ knife sharpener and its a breeze. The bad:- None, even if I try to conjure one up.The ugly:- you gotta be kidding me.PS: Do not buy the knife set (at least if it doesnt say its from the same series). It is definitely made of inferior steel and those knives do not feel as robust as these, and are no where near as good to use as these. I bought a set for gifting from Costco (Komachi HD I think?) for my mom, and regretted after trying them out first.

Great value!
This 6" serrated multi-utlity knife is an all-around great knife. The serration starts halfway down the knife's blade, so this knife can fill in for either serrated or smooth knife duties. It's a good medium size, too, which makes it well suited to a wide variety of cutting tasks. I use this knife every day.Kitchen knives are one of those things: you can basically spend as much as you want on them. However, sometimes spending more money doesn't guarantee you a better product. As always, do your research! I had been needing new kitchen knives for some time, and after researching the various brands out there, I determined that the Pure Komachi series were the best value for me. They are easy to purchase a la carte, which was a big selling point for me. I've had knife sets before, and I find that there are quite a few knives in the set I never use. Buying just the knives you will actually use is a good way to save a little money. I also really like that they are colorful. In addition to giving my kitchen a pretty splash of color (I have a magnetic knife bar, so the knives hang on the wall instead of being jammed in a drawer or knife block, which can dull the blades), the color also serves a useful purpose, by helping you avoid cross-contamination (for example, I always use the pink chef's knife for raw meat). All in all, a great buy. I have already recommended these knives to some friends and family, and will continue to do so!

The Red Yugo Bandit Says!
This entire line of Pure Komachi 2 knives has got to be one of the best values of them all! Definitely the best value in the knife category. These knives are made of carbon hardened stainless steel just like professional knives that cost many times the cost of these. It's hard to believe that anyone would pay anywhere from twice to ten times for another knife just because of the name on it. These knives are just as good, possibly even better than any on the market today! Combined with the bright colors that actually add something to your kitchen, YOU CAN'T GO WRONG BUYING THESE! The only negative thing I can possible say is that because of the bright colors they appear to be no where near as sharp as they are, so when someone is visiting your home and using things in your kitchen you have to warn them that these are NOT toys! I have actually cut myself with one of them as they are literally razor sharp!I personally have NO need to have 10 or 12 different knives in my kitchen. I have this one being reveiwed and the 6 1/2 inch for chopping and that's about all I need for my kitchen, although I am seriously considering purchasing the paring knife. But whether you just want one very sharp knife or an entire set I can't recommend these enough! Great price value!!!! Fantastic quality!!!! Outstanding addition to your kitchen!!!!!! I would gladly become a spokeperson for this company!!!!!!!!!!!
