Review: Want to learn about relational database design? This is the best place to start - The best book on the subject that I have read. Good coverage of the subject. A balanced view. Most books on the subject tell you that their way is the only way. While he certainely has his preferred methods, he does discuss some alternatives. Review: Great book if you don't know where to start, but watch out for typos - I checked this out from the library because I want to get better with database design. Although it is a great book, it has lots of typos and a few errors. To make sure I'm getting everything, I always take the chapter quizzes and do the "try this" sections, and I don't look at the answers until I'm done. In some cases, the answers in the back are questionable. I think there's mistakes in particular words that change the meaning of the question or answer, and also I've found one question in the the answer section that is worded differently than in the chapter. This really caused me frustration until I actually found the difference. It won't take you two weeks to read this book, but it is me because I'm doing all the practices and quizzes as if I were really being tested on it. If you're just reading it, you probably won't notice [or be bothered by] the errors I've found. I'm still a bit confused about some of the things taught in here, like the "Party" model, but what the hey, you can never satisfy everybody. It's still an excellent book. If I owned it, I'd be writing notes all over it.

This book really helps
This book is perfect for beginner who wants to learn about data modeling in RDBMS. This book has good TOC and very easy to find what you want to read. Very useful tips like "Ask the Experts" section. Very easy to understand when a book comes with step-by-step section. Good examples to show tables and data relationships. I am new to data modeling in RDBMS but after reading this, I can easily create a small test database with some test data and check out the examples from this book. At the end ...., I say hey..it works!!!

Get the digital version
Usually I prefer the hard copy for technical manuals, but in this rare case I recommend the kindle version because the font in the printed copy is way too small. What that done to save money on paper, or just for the "lulz"?

Troppo vecchio
Sicuramente un buon libro a suo tempo, sconsiglio di comprarlo ora, alcuni concetti sono sicuramente ancora validi ma per la maggior parte mi sembra obsoleto
