This is the same shade as the 2" x 4.25" glass rectangles used by schoolteachers to protect students and children so that they can safely look directly at a solar eclipse. In fact, these lenses are made from the same exact, top-quality German glass often found in classrooms and scientific labs for solar eclipse observation. Please note: these are FAR too dark to be used as regular sunglasses. THESE ARE NOT SUNGLASSES! The green athermal lenses block over 99% of UV light and 97% of infrared radiation, but they are specifically for looking at the sun during a solar eclipse. Their only other application is welding (yes, these are green athermal shade 14 welding lenses).
