Nowadays, it’s quite rare to see products come out exactly as advertised but this really does look like the videos/photos. I used no filter in mine. The lights are super crisp and bright and the transition effects are very smooth. Very impressed!!!BOX/PACKAGING: very good quality and I expect I will be able to put everything back without a headache. I find this is key for expensive products (like this one) to withstand the test of time.WiFi SET UP: followed the instructions with no issues. Set up is similar to getting an Alexa added to your network through your phone.TREE SETUP: The lights come in two separate strings with one end attached to the same power outlet wire (i.e. the whole thing looks like the letter Y). When actually putting the lights on the tree, the instructions said to start in the middle of the tree and loop one string up the tree and the other string to loop down. After doing this, we turned the lights on and noticed that the bottom and top weren’t in sync and so we redid the bottom one. However, this issue may have been resolved if we used the mapping feature right after putting the lights on the tree. We ended up mapping the lights after doing this fix manually.MAPPING: Mapping feature uses your phone camera to feed the location of each light on the front and back of the tree (for 3D option) or just the front of the tree for (2D option). The specific layout of the lights then shows up on your phone and you can choose the color of each individual light. The difference between the 3D and 2D mapping is that certain light layouts are only available for mapping that was done in 3D. In my opinion the 3D layouts are cooler so I’d recommend taking the extra 2 min to map the back the tree.LAYOUT DESIGNS: The Twinkly app comes with about 10 pre-installed designs - all of which looked really great. You can further customize each of these designs by changing the brightness of the lights, the speed of the movement and the actual colors that are part of the design. You can also download more designs from the Twinkly store (all the ones I’ve seen so far were free) and same customization options are available as for the pre-installed designs.TREE SIZE VS. LIGHT COUNT: Before buying this product, my main concern was that I didn’t how many lights to get for a specific tree size - in the product images it was unclear how many lights were used and how tall the tree was and so I was concerned that we’d have too few or too many. Our tree is about 6-7 feet tall and we have the 250 count which I think was perfect. Next year we’ll plan on getting a bigger tree but I’ll get a second set of lights as I think the 250 count would not have the same effect on a bigger tree.SOUND: I’m still trying to work out the position of the mic for the lights to be in sync with music. We’re having some issues but I attribute this the mic currently being positioned under the tree skirt.

I never write reviews. This set of lights deserves one. First off the package was much smaller than I though. I bought the 250 lights version and was thinking it would be much larger - 250 is a lot of lights. Anyway it was packaged great no waste of space.I pulled them out and unraveled the 2 sets of light and plugged them in. They looked great already just on the floor with the default setting. My son grabbed his phone and downloaded the app. within a few minutes he was playing with the lights tweaking everything. he just laid the lights out on the living room floor - we had not yet gotten our tree. Anyway he played non stop with it for probably 4+ hours. He created and saved a few custom patterns and tweaked the out of the box settings. He also moved the lights around in multiple different patterns then remapped the lights to see how well it would work. It figured everything out easily and quickly.We usually wait to get our tree till the like December 4-7 since we always want a real tree. Anyway everyone liked the lights so much we decided to get two trees this year. A cheaper one now so we could see the lights on a tree and then another one after the smell was gone/all dried up. The tree we got was a full Douglas Fir just over 6.5 foot. I was thinking the lights may not fit well on a larger tree. I wrapped it from the bottom up and there was much left over so I had to wrap the excess down about 1/2 way again. I'd say the lights would fit perfectly on a 7.5 - 8 foot tree.My son remapped it and then tested out all his settings for hours. We didn't even put any ornaments on it. My son is really frugal and hates when we spend money on stuff. I let him know it was $150. He said it was worth it. I was amazed. We have to beat him up to get new clothes for school and we pay for them not him.We are empty nesters and the kids were leaving back to college. I sat down last night and downloaded the app. it connected instantly and withing a few minutes I was tweaking things and making my own custom patterns. I played with it for at least an hour. It was a blast! Software is very intuitive. I didn't read the instructions or need my boy to show me how it works. I'm a programmer and this software really amazed me - it is elegant.

The media could not be loaded.  Seriously AMAZING!! I was on the line about whether to purchase the Twinkly Smart Lights, but so glad I did. More money than I have paid for lights in the past but so worth it! My teenage sons and husband even love them. You can customize the patterns to your own colors or use the beautiful preset options. So much fun to have the lights “dance” to music. It was easy to use/set up and no issues with the app.There may be cheaper options that have similar features but what good is it if they don’t work?! I read through many reviews and the majority reported issues with connecting your device to the lights and serious issues with the app. That is not the case with Twinkly!I would give it 10 stars if I could!! Highly recommend! Merry Christmas Everyone!!

Great product. The best, in fact, in its category. Bright, easy to setup and very intuitive application. Maybe a bit expensive, for a christmas light, but still, there is a very good matching between what you pay and what you get. I liked very much the client service. Very prmpt responses and very client centered attitude. The seller takes care of his clients and this makes definitely get back for other acquisitions.

Pricey but very nice set of lights. I have a 7ft tree and I bought 2 boxes, the more lights the better the effect shows.Each box contains 2 strings of lights. I like the fact that it has different effects you can chose from. I will be buying a 3rd box for this Christmas!

The media could not be loaded.  Easy to set up, App works great.Love that I can switch between fancy patterns and a calm fading color changeGreat that I dont have to string them perfectly like sequential strings. The Mapping feature just figures it all out.I have had the app crash a couple times, but restarting the phone fixed it.

I purchased this product in late November 2021 was was so happy with the technology. However by mid January 2022 the lights stopped working completely. I spent two weeks trying to troubleshoot the product, reading all the on line reviews, and I was not successful. I then decided to contact Amazon to return, they said they could not help me and I needed to work with the seller. The seller has refused to acknowledge there is an issue with the product and frankly looking at the on line reviews, I'm not the first to experience this attitude and this denial. They offered me $30 for my troubles which is insulting, when the lights cost in excess of $250 CAD. I offered also to exchange the product and they did not answer my questions. BTW, on the packaging of the product is there is a sticker that says its only good for 30 days, now I know what this means. Even if the product cost $5 if think this is irresponsible for any manufacturer to sell a product which is in beta form. Buy this product if you are as excited about it as I was, however be forewarned your joy is temporary and you are throwing you hard earned money the window.

These light are amazing! Colours are bright, remote is easy once you download the app.
