Smith Optics Transport Helmet

Compared to the Giro and RED helmets, I find the Smith's to be the best. This helmet is nice, but the Variance, Vantage and Sequal are far superior in comfort. I think for the extra $30-50, it's worth spending for people who spend a lot of time on the mountain. This is perfect for those skiing or boarding 5-10 times a year. Any more than that, and the comfort of a nicer helmet will make all of those days much better.

I only had two snowboarding days with my Smith Transport helmet. It's comfortable and it looks good. It's easy to fit, the vents are easy to work, and the chin strap didn't chafe. It was my first helmet purchase and I'm buying a second one.Two days ago while boarding I slipped on some ice. I don't really remember it, as I was knocked out. My helmet was in pieces, but I wasn't. I was able to walk away from my fall with only a concussion. Without my helmet, I have no doubt I would have left the mountain via Life Flight rather than my own two feet. I work for a major sporting goods manufacturer, and many people here ski or snowboard. My broken Transport helmet now sits on my desk as a reminder to myself and my coworkers to never do again what I used to do every trip - ride without a helmet.Be safe, buy a helmet and use it EVERY SINGLE TRIP. No excuses.
